Car won't start after running out of gas and refilling.🚫
Last night my xfire ran out of gas. Went to the gas station put in about 5 gallons and it still would not crank over. I let it sit over night and in the morning it started right up. Drove it to the store was in there about 1 hr came out and it started up. Went to wash my car for another hour then it started up fine. I let it then sit for 2 hrs tryed to start and nothing! After cranking it a few times it finally turned over. Drove and stopped drove and stopped everything was good. I even bought GUM OUT fuel system cleaner. Let the car sit for a couple hours again and now I'm in my car and it won't start. ANY ideas what's going on???😁

you did not say how many miles or what year it is. I have replaced many fuel pumps in cars and trucks because of the owners letting the gas get down to empty all the time. First off the little sock or filter screen protects the pump from crud being sucked up into the pump. If you do this a lot of times the sock plugs up. Second is the fuel in the tank helps to keep the pump cool if you let it run down all the time in hot weather the pump over heats. Pumps normally last between 120,00 to 150,000 miles depending on how often they are shut off and turned on. One other thing that messes up pumps is the fuel filter is not changed and flow is reduced putting a strain on the pump.

Not an expert but I'm pretty sure all Crossfires have an external fuel pump. I know my 06 does because I just changed the fuel filter/pressure regulator yesterday and the pump is right next to the filter. Very easy to get to once the car is off the ground. You mentioned you added fuel and it still would not crank over. Does that mean the starter didn't crank the engine or it just wouldn't start with the starter engaging? If it does not crank over you have a starter problem, should be easy to troubleshoot. If it's a cranks but no start condition who knows. You could put a gauge on the fuel rail shrader valve with key on and expect to see ~55 psi on the gauge. If it's not there you have narrowed it down to a clogged filter or faulty pump. Problem may be in the relay control module, cold solder joints or burnt contacts. Good luck with it.

Yes, likely vapor lock. Turn the ignition to on but don't engage the starter. Wait about a minute for the fuel to charge the system. Then turn it off and try to start.
It is likely the one way valve has failed, no biggie. But it let any fuel in the line bleed back to the empty tank.

Did you get a CEL, this may have nothing to do with fuel.
