shifter knob and boot
shifter **** and boot
hi guys I've searched and viewed some posts but dont have a complete picture. wife wants a leather shift **** to replace cold metal one she has now in her base manual 2006 XF.
4 questions.
1. Will an SLK leather **** work? (before I spend $100 for it) ?
2. does the shift boot simply pull up and out?
3. I've read it's either threaded of there's collar to remove - think I'm good there once I can access under to boot.
4. Any helpful tips?
thank you all

You gently pry the boot of by getting under its frame as shown in the photo.

According to this German ebay seller, the shift ***** are interchangeable, but I wouldn't consider it as gospel.

Re: shifter **** and boot
Unless you're planning to change out the boot, don't take it off of the bezel. This will save come headache afterward. The rest of the headache now comes when you will need all five sets of hands to keep the boot in place while you screw the collar for the new **** on. (You have five sets of hands, don't you?)
