Default blown subwoofer

Curious if anyone could assist? I have a blown subwoofer and have searched the forum to see the best replacement. What I see is Kicker 08cvt654 6.5 Inch Subwoofer however I see this available in 2 and 4 ohm. Which do I want? I am looking for an easy swap out and I did see the helpful photos of this tutorial.

Thank you to anyone who can assist.

I'm looking into a non OEM replacement option. Bazooka the people that make the awesome base tube sub woofers; make a 6.5in 2ohm double voice coil sub woofer. I just need to pull my factory ones and measure to make sure they will fit. If someone has one pulled how tall is it? The bazooka is 3.625" tall (top of woofer frame to bottom of magnet) I plan to pull the factory subs this weekend to check and see if it will work. The problem of not going with a double voice coil is that your amp will only give you half the wattage because you'll be leaving 2 legs (one for each side) open.

Good luck!

Excellent! Thanks that saves me a some work. I'm thinking of ordering a set of subs from bazooka to try it out. I'm not 100% sure they'll be better in anyway, but I figure it's worth a try to find a 2nd choice if the OE woofers become impossible to get.

Thank you everyone, this certainly clears it up. I think I will try the kicker but did notice the magnet is noticably larger then the factory, has anyone used this replacement noted in previous thread as a direct fit?

If you're still running the factory amp I would suggest the bazooka (model#: WF621.5DV). The double voice coils will work better. If you're replacing the factory amp then I would go with the kicker I think they are most likely better speakers. Good luck!

As far as I know none will be required. The factory subs have push on type spades like a lot of speakers do. Good luck! and be sure to let us all know how it sounds.

One last question, although it says 6 inch, this will fit correct?

The email I got from Bazooka: "You would want the WF621.5DV which is the 2ohm DVC version. The dimensions are the same 6.5" diameter 3.625" tall."

It's a standard 6.5 driver that is 2ohm double voice coil which means it's prefect for our crossfires.

I just bought the WF621.5DV and they are about an inch taller than our factory subs... help please! Do I have to modify something? I'm not an audio expert so pictures would be helpful! I can send pictures of what I've got too. BAZOOKA Mobile Audio - WF621.5DV - 6 inch 2 ohm replacement woofer

Anyone buy the WF621.5DV and have them installed? The magnet part is like twice the size of the infinity subwoofer. Thank you!

Sorry to bring up an old thread. Picking up a srt-6 this weekend and was wondering if there is any merit to this post after I have found multiple posts that state its a direct fit, and then this post which worries me. Did he not know what he was doing?

As far as i know there are no after market speakers that will fit without light modifications on the housing.
The Kickers will also need modification on the housing. And they are not designed for free air use.

I've bought a pair of Earthquake SWS 6.5. SWS The Original Shallow Woofer
The pro on them is that they are designed for free air usage and the sound much better than the original subs. The go a little bit lower and they don't have that "boom boom character" that most try to compensate with the capacitor solution.
The con is that the mounting diameter is 6 mm wider than the original mounting hole, so you have to modify it. And that they have only a efficiency of 77 dB. So they need a little bit more power than the stock amp has – even if you bridge the 4 x 22 watt to 2 x 44 watt for the subs – which is possible without a problem.

For those who are interested in, these are the technical specs of the Eathquake SWS 6.5:
Revc: 3.6 Ohms
Fo: 39.31 Hz
Sd: 12.50 msqM
BL: 4.350 TM
Qms: 4.192
Qes: 1.723
Qts. 1.221
SPLo: 77.3 dB
Vas: 9.94 Ltr
Xmax: 15 mm (measured in one direction)

Speaker diameter: 6.5"
Mounting depth: 1 3/4" (45 mm)
Cut out mounting whole: 5 3/4" (142 mm)
Weight: 5 Lbs
Voice coil diameter: 1"
Aluminium bobin
Power rating RMS: 100W
Power rating Max: 200W

Anyone that has removed the stock sub, how much space is back there to work around with? Im interested in the JL 6W3's and was wondering if it would take major modification to make it fit. It looks like its just about an inch deeper at 4-3/16", but the magnet size is what really concerns me because its much more massive that the stock sub.

They won't fit. The diameter of the magnet is much too wide.
They're also not made for free air usage. They are designed for a sealed box.
If you use a QTC of 0,707 they need a sealed volume of 5,48 litres.

Made some additional measurements and photos.
So you can see how tight the stock subwoofer fits the mounting.
Best way to get an aftermarket subwoofer in stock place is to build a new mounting and use subs that are designed for free air usage..

So, our sub on the driver side decided to let go. Probably because of the muisc choice. HA Did anybody figure out which is the best option as a replacement for these cars? I am just wanting to use the factory amp and assemblys but dont want to be pulling it apart again by using a oem replacement. Also, does anyone know of a thread on the disassembly of the sub woofer box?

Mine had blown and I tried ordering the recommended size from bazooka audio as mentioned in the threads, but when I took it apart, it didn't fit. I wasn't interested in any fabrication, so I returned it and just bought a stock woofer from the chrysler dealership. I'm not expert, but that housing and space behind the seats is extremely tight. Taking the assembly part is extremely easy - I think it took phillips head or standard hex bits, but I believe there were only 6 and voila - it was out. Best of luck and let me know what you end up doing.

I think michaelgreen is absolutely right.
As far as i know there is no aftermarket sub that will fit to the housing without modification.
The sub also needs to be free-air version and needs to have a high efficiency because of the relatively weak infinity amp.
I also would recommend to use a stock chassis for replacement.
Try to get one from a wrecked car. That's cheaper.

The replacement of the subwoofers is descripted in the Crossfire service manual.
