Sorry I was not clear. The A and B sockets in the factory harness only have the nine pins I mentioned connected. There are no wires in the A1, 2, or 3 cavities.

I am having an issue with mine, I have hooked everything up correctly I believe but I am having and issue with the remote wire I think because the head unit will come on but no music will come through the speakers.

Try putting the factory unit back in and see if it works.

Then it is either the wiring or the new head. I took a long time wiring the adapter for my M303 and it has never missed a beat.

Just a thought but you know the XF amplifier is expecting a speaker output from the head unit and not a preamp output ?

Speaker if preamp is less than 4 volts, preamp is fine if you happen to be lucky enough to find a head unit with 4V preamp outs. ( I once had a Sony that worked just fine with the preamps, but I have to use the speaker wires on my Alpine )

Have ordered a Kenwood KMR D588BT. How do you remove the stock radio?
I assume I need the removal keys, where can I get them?
Do I remove the radio trim before inserting the keys ?
Thanks in advance

Best Buy, Crutchfield, just about any radio/stereo shop, I think even Wal-Mart has them....

Right guys, I need some help. have wired up new Kenwood KMR-558 (4 speaker wires, perm +ve, ign +ve and ground. Power Amp doesn't work and I now realise I have to power the amp from the head unit. Can someone confirm I use the head unit switched 12v output to power up the amp, but what colour wire in the OEM connector do I connect to ?

OK, have sorted it. FWIW I fitted the Kenwood KMR-558 really easy. I didn't bother with adaptor leads, I simply soldered micro blade terminals to the Kenwood wires (4 x spr, 2 x 12v, 1 x ground and 1 x power control). Inserted the terminals into OEM connector block. Hard to explain, but to avoid wires pulling out, I tied the Kenwood bundle of wires together with a zip tie and then threaded a longer zip tie through the bundle behind the zip tie and then around the OEM connector plug, this holds the wires firmly in the connector plug. To assist others who want to simply replace the stock head unit and not bother with major re-wires to the power amp, here is a list of the connections:
Stock radio Kenwood KMR-D558BT OEM plug pin
Left spkr + Yellow white B5
Left spkr - Yellow/Violet white/black B6
Right spkr + Blue Grey B3
Right spkr - Blue/Brown Grey/Black B4
Permnt 12v Red/Green Yellow A4
Switched 12v Pink/yellow/green Red A7
Pwr amp on Blue/Green Blue/White A5
Ground - Brown Black A8
For those in the UK, this radio is brilliant, I bought mine off eBay USA for about £100 all in, only took 7 days to get here from Florida. Receives UK FM and a real neat Bluetooth function with voice dialling etc.
If I didn't have the initial power amp power problem, I could have fitted it in less than an hour
I positioned the microphone by the rear view mirror and routed wire across top of screen tucked into head lining, down pillar and into the fuse box area, then across to the radio, all hidden.
Works great.

Cool Re: How-To: Install an Aftermarket Stereo

Hi all,
Just noticed my posting didn't carry across my spacing in the connection list. FYI it goes in following order: function - stock radio wire colour - Kenwood radio wire colour and then stock connector pin number.

Minor problem, Crutchfield confirmed on 2 occasions to me that the KMR-558BT would work on European FM channel spacing, even after I pointed out that the manual didn't mention it !
Anyway, for UK/European buyers, you won't be able to tune in even numbered channels i.e. 98.8 etc.
I'm not too bothered because I hate adverts interrupting the music anyway. Also, the iPod functionality is excellent, so I'll be listening to that a lot more !

Apologies for dragging this thread on ! I have found some new information for any UK or European owners who may have been put off by my previous post to purchase a Kenwood KMR558BT. Crutchfield have come up trumps and given me the instructions to re-set the unit to receive Euro FM channels. I have just done it and it works:
1. Switch radio on and then switch off with the SRC (source) button
2. Hold down pre-set buttons 1&5
3. Press the SRC button whilst holding the 1&5 buttons pressed
4. The unit will now turn on, release all buttons
The unit now receives full Euro channels !
If for any reason you want to go back to US spacing, repeat the above.

Thanks! I had an issue with the Amp Blue/White wire that I would have never guessed if I didn't look here.
