S.O.C.O. Supports MOVEMBER 2012
Movember is a few days away. Some of us participated in this last year and I am ready to do it again this year. Who's with me?
"During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces, in Canada and around the world. With their “Mo’s”, these men raise vital funds and awareness for men's health, specifically prostate cancer and male mental health initiatives." http://ca.movember.com/about/
I started Team S.O.C.O. this year hopeing for support from our Crossfire members.
Please check out the website and do some reading.

Sparkie and I are off to a good start! We will have on going pics uploaded every few days
If you are wondering where the donations go...
"The funds that Movember raise are invested in programs that address the strategic priorities Movember has identified, related to both prostate cancer and male mental health.
Globally, fighting prostate cancer continues to be Movember’s highest priority. There are still many issues to be addressed, particularly when it comes to diagnosis - a key focus for many Movember funded research programs. Today, there still isn't a test that accurately tells a man which type of prostate cancer he has, resulting in many men being over-diagnosed and having to undergo unnecessary and harmful treatment. Equally important to Movember are Survivorship programs. Diagnosis is just the first step in a man's prostate cancer journey; Survivorship is the next and these programs can have a dramatic impact on the quality of life of men and their families and carers; they can mean the difference between men living a meaningful, quality life and just living." ...........

Its only 1 month, Stick in there Nancy. Mine is a little annoying now but expecting it to get worse before it gets better. I am aiming to grow "The Trucker" but one slip of the razor and I may end up looking like Dr. Phil.

No pics it did not happen.
For support I grew my one down to my chin. It blended in with the rest.

Thanks Beaner and Sparkie - you guys are great! Wish you would have put it in the General section and maybe could have gotten a bit more action - I find I am usually busy and just check todays posts and I missed yours. I have been dealing with terminal Prostate Cancer for over 4 years (long term terminal!) As the drugs continue to work longer for me than for most others I may still be here for a while and would gladly donate to you next year - feel free to pm me if I don't. I did donate to Sean (Cydetrak) last year. Maybe we could get some of the US owners to join in as Canada once again raised more money than any other country! I am having fun enjoying my early retirement but I do the Safeway Father's day run for Prostate Cancer in June and my team "Pain in the ***" has also raised a bit of money for Prostate Cancer. Need to get the word out on this under funded cancer that hits so many men. Keep up the good work and you are appreciated!! Thanks again, Ron.

My evil Evelyn is a nurse at a "old age" home locally and all but 3 male patients have this cancer. Odds are not good for older men.
Most will not donate, as long as they are aware its their choice. Alot easier to fight this when it starts than when its too late. Just lay on your side and relax, the doctor will be "in" you in one moment
I have had pretty much everything checked except this because of work, but Sparkie did and he LOVED it! (oops too much info)
Maybe next year we will just join your "pain in the a**" team
