Default Lights out in Caledon

Our Hydro was out for nearly 45 hours from 8.40pm Friday until 5.20pm today. Temperature in the house went down to 52 deg.F.

I managed to keep my tropical fish tank around 74/75 deg F. all the time. I wrapped the tank with blankets and filled plastic bottles with hot water and floated them in the tank.

Our fireplace has not been used for 25 years and I dared not use it. Some clever D!ck was in the news, he filled his generator with gas while it was too hot and heated his house a bit too much. The firemen cooled it down for him, now it is covered in icicles.

Dave I would have gladly run my generator down to you had I known. I had it poised and ready to power my whole house just in case because I live so rural that when I loose power I loose everything, water included. Our power never even hiccupped.
Unfortunately my father in-law passed away on Thursday and today was the funeral in Ajax. Its gridlock throughout the GTA with continued power outages, no traffic lights, trees down, many areas of the city still in darkness. Took us three hours to get home with dry roads, sunny skies and no snow.......complete gridlock. Crackhead Ford really does need to declare a state of emergency down there. Temps are going to drop tonight to -10C.

We lost electric most of Saturday.. Fortunately the fireplace does get used a few times a year. Wife decided it was the last time and ordered a Generac 5500 watt portable off Ebay. It's enough to power the travel trailer too. A bored 7yr old grand daughter can push you right over the edge to those purchases.. LOL.

Thanks for the thought, we survived - just.
The ice took down a tree at the end of the street, which took down another tree which took the top of the Hydro pole which took out a ground wire(?). They powered up the wires at one point and that blew three transformers. I got this third hand and it makes a bit of sense to me, maybe not you though.
There are a lot of downed trees around, branches mostly. I am told the old part of Brampton was severely hit with a lot of old growth trees down.

Always welcome here young man! Lost power for only 30 min. They keep this area well supplied with power. Would not want the casino's to loose any money...

What area are you in Caledon, we are at McLaughlin and King.

We lost power for two nights, luckily we have fireplaces in each bedroom running on propane.
luckily the power came back the propane tank was reading 5%

our neighbors didn't have power for 6 days for some odd reason. A tree had fallen on a power line on their property.

Caledon East. Remember I saw your car two years (?) ago at McLaughlin and King, I was heading West and you turned East.
