Default Radio (another radio thread)

Well, the dealer has ordered a third radio for my car. Today's problem was one they have never heard of or seen before.

I was listening to preset station number 3 (106.1) . The radio would magically change between preset 3 (106.1) and 4 (96.5). The display said preset 3 (KISS) and the station name but would play another station. After switching around I discovered preset 3 and 4 were set for the same station (106.1). I would reset 4 back to 96.5. After a few seconds it would reset itself to 106. I gave up and started listening to preset 3 (106) it would play 106 then switch to 96.5. Back and forth.

Craziness!!

Good news when I got to the dealer it was still doing it. The service manager was involved because of so many radio failures.

This will be the third swap and 4th radio. Hopefully it will work for longer than 3 months.

-Erick

Mine did the same thing with presets 8 and 9. It did it for about a week, but quit before I got a chance to take it to the dealer. It has been working fine now for about 6 months.

Mine, also did the same kinda of thing...i would be listening to a hip hop/r&b station and it would keep switching me to a soft rock station as if the car wanted to listen to "that" station...good thing it doesn't do that anymore...i was actually starting to like some of that soft rock!! hahaha

FirebaseD,
If we didn't get the picture, I'm sure you would find one for us!

My radio description of a song is stuck on "Dierks Bently...Headed for a slowdown" and never changes on a country station pre set. Anyone have a fix for that?
I'm thinking that was an omen for my hubby's racing crash at 195+. Should have saw that comin'.

Oops! I started a similar thread today without doing all my research... but at least I'm not alone in the channel changing episodes!!

My radio is doing the switch thingy on two presets... I think it's funny now but I know before too long I'll get annoyed with it- I can only take gospel and OLD country music for so long...

I guess that gives me another reason to take it to the shop- the sound I get when turning or in reverse doesn't sound too good either...

My radio was acting bizarre in switching stations. I tried playing with the station select buttons but to no avail. Finally, I pressed the "FM" select button a couple of times and everything cleared up. No problems since.

I thought this was crazy talk until this morning. Dang preset 3 kept changing to a station I don't even have as a preset. Guess i'll add it to the list when my baby goes in for the bottom seat heater.

For about $150, put in an aftermarket head unit. The stock one sucks, working or not. The ergonomics don't make any sense, and the aftermarket one has so many more features.

It's a navigation unit so to replace that with similar would be a lot more. I'm pretty happy with the unit as a whole, minus the outdated streets and now the ghost controlling the unit. If i didn't have the nav unit then id probably be right there with you tossing it and replacing it.
