ahhh! getting frustrated.
ahhh! getting frustrated.
ok i bought my xfire about a month ago. so i drove it about two weeks and those wrenches with negative numbers started showing up. so i said ok maybe it needs an oil change. so i took it to the dealer and got the oil changed. well it number went to zero. now we are back to negative 700. but i just had the oil changed. i have tried to reset it using a method i found on here, but with my luck i did not work. so i took it back by the dealer and some sweaty fat guy set in my car and jiggled the key in the ignition and said ok its done. well i get back in my car and it still says -700. i said thanks for resetting it and he said your welcome just like he did a great job. so does my car need something besides an oil change i don't have a owners manual. someone please help i hate not knowing what my car needs.

The -700 on the display tells me that the dealer didn't reset the FSS counter properly. It's pretty easy to do but you have to get the timing right. Here's the procedure:
turn ignition key to position 2 (on)
press reset button twice within 4 seconds (the one on the left of the odometer display)
turn ignition back to pos 1 (off)
press and hold the reset button
turn ignition to pos 2 (on)
keep pressing the reset button until buzzer sounds and new miles display appears
So in simpler terms:
On, push-push, off, push/hold, on, wait for the beep, release
Lather, rinse, repeat until you get it.
