Default I just saw my first Saturn Aztec...er...Sky.

Up close, that thing's got more angles than a Chrysler finance manager. The Solstice is WAY sexier.

LOL...true about the angles...but I like it better than the Solstice...after spending an hour or so bothering my local Pontiac dealer while looking at Solstice, in the end, I found it a bit dull. The plastic bits really do look cheap up close and in person. As both the cars are selling well. I'm sure there will be plenty of after market mod parts to get rid of all that cheap honeycomb venting around the car.

I like em both but I agree that the Sky is hotter of the two. The negative is I'm already seeing more of them on the road than Crossfires. By next summer there will be a bunch of them on the road.

Some idiot in a Saturn Sky Red Line wanted to race me the other night. I
asked him, you've got a turbo in there right? He says yes. I said, "you
think you can take me?" He says easy, I'll make you want to buy a GM
Product. I told him man, If you beat me in that pretty looking, under
powered car, I'll by GM cars for the rest of my life. I told him you don't
know what your messing with. I've got 330 hp under that thing, you've got
maybe 230 hp, do the math! Your no match. He told me he was and is
planning on racing me later. It was getting late and my wife heard the
whole conversation and said, NO racing! Hahahah, that would have been a
spanking. He tore out of the sub at wot and it sounding like a dying cat
being shoved through a water hose. Y'know that strained engine sound.
Didn't even hear the turbo spool up. I laughed! What a joke! But...
I did like the interior though.

I passed by a young woman driving a Solstice on my way home from work. She was obviously enjoying the ride with the top down. I ran my passenger side window down (tints ya know) and gave her the thumbs up. I think it made her day.
If I was going for a cute little Roadster I may have considered the Solstice (never the Saturn Sky). But I went for the unique, bold retro styling of the Crossfire Coupe. Lowered the stance, tinted the windows and a few other improvements. Now it's a Star.
I just don't think any self respecting man should own a cute car. I would have told that to the panty waist that wanted to race you. After I pulled my boot out his a**.

Good One! I'll have to remember that the next time I see him, after I spank his @## and get my $20 bucks!

I wonder if it was this idiot? Almost a Sky!

Took the Sol out to the track Tuesday night, and rocked out! Here's the last two passes:

60 ft: 1.909
330 ft: 5.422
1/8 mi: 8.290
1/8 mph: 87.27
1000 ft: 10.752
1/4 mi: 12.818
1/4 mph: 109.64

60 ft: 1.880
330 ft: 5.375
1/8 mi: 8.243
1/8 mph: 87.19
1000 ft: 10.705
1/4 mi: 12.772
1/4 mph: 109.55

The best part was whomping up on V8 cars doing it! The first 12 (12.81) came against a 300C SRT8, and it was fast at 13.26, but not fast enough!

Route6612.jpg

The car was putting about 315 HP to the wheels. I didn't turn it up any further, for I just wanted to run some decent 12's and not completely overpower the street tires.

With some stickier tires and more tuning, she should be in the low 12's. Not bad for a stock engine, stock driveline (save for clutch) Sol, eh?

I didn't think the Sky Redline was out yet. We're just seeing standard Sky's hit the streets here on the East Coast. I like the lines on the Sky much more than the Solstice (JMO) but the convertible top on both is so poorly designed I think I would have waited another year if necessary to produce it just to get it right. I guess GM didn't think they'd be in business that long if they didn't get it out.

actually i want to say those put out 260 hp, and if he had a turbo timer/upped his psi, and decent driving skills it would be a very good race -- but seeing as redlines don't come out until september at the earliest -- it was just a normal sky, you would have made him look like a b*tch running home with his tail between his legs.

Both the solstice and sky look and feel cheap. We have one of each at work and the top design on both is atrocious. The material for the tops wouldn't be suitable for a pair of jeans.

But in special edition trim I could see both cars looking and feeling better but those tops are horrendous.

Goodenough, glad to see you're still lurking around...haven't seen a post from you in a while.

You bring up an interesting point...what exactly is a chick car?
(looking for the humorous responses of course).

VW bug? - high chick potential.
H3 - very high chick mobile here in DC.
Jaguar - that shape just says...never mind.

As far as I'm concerned, if GE says it's a chick car, it's a chick car.

Of course, if she said the sky is green, I'd agree with that too.

I had the rare opportunity to drive off the lot in a sky the day I went to the dealership (someone fell through on a order... something about needing a family car because of wife blah blah). I test drove it, had a bunch of stares, and even people questioning me at stoplights (someone asked me if it was a 40 or 50k car)...

After the negotiation was done, they wanted some 30,181 for the car (every option imaginable) despite the fact that it had been driven for 650 some odd miles... AND they were trying to get me on a 9.0% rate on a NEW car...

Because of that, I did a search to find a car around 30k once I realized that I COULD actually afford that (and more) and found that I could actually buy the more powerful, retro Crossfire ( ) at a much cheaper price.

I called the Saturn dealership from inside the Crossfire that I had just purchased (no crap, an hour after arriving at the dealership) and told them to sell that Sky to someone else.

No comparison. The Sky (which, IMO, is more aggressive, better looking than the Solstice) isn't even close to the Crossfire.

And on the east coast, the only people that I've seen so far riding in either one of those cars are chicks... chick car indeed!

typical... so that tells me you’ve obviously never driven a Miata, or read any car reviews about it. (i pick out the Miata because i used to own one; the rest of the cars you listed don’t really bother me).

Yeah I never rode in a Miata, and would have to purchase a skirt before I attempted driving one. I'm sure it's well engineered Chassis can carve corners with the best of them, Mazda made a big mistake killing off the third gen RX7, now that was a car I loved driving!!

I almost got the Pontiac, but I am so glad that I didn't. The Crossfire is much more manly and gets more looks that the Saturn or the Pontiac. Now as for the Miata being a chick car, I think it really has to fall in to that group, even tho that is one heck of a car to drive. I have driven one that had almost all spec Miata parts and I have driven a 289 hp turbo charged one. Both were a blast and I really enjoyed it. Yes I would drive a Miata, but they are just classic chick cars. Let’s admit, women look great in them.

I love the Miata! Just wouldn't buy one because it's too little and definitely in the CUTE Category.
Seems to me that the Miata has almost a cult following. The Miata clubs around my area (north east Ohio) have quite a serious membership. I saw about two dozen of them in a convoy here last weekend. Obviously, Collectors of many years and all good people who love their cars. I could be wrong, but I don't think they have much interest in racing anyone in a straight line.
O.K. ... I can't help it... Mazda ...HUUMMM.

When I grow up I want to be a ZO6.
