Default Crossfire in winter?

I have read a number of posts that reference members garaging their Crossfires for the winter. My Xfi is my only current vehicle, my first rear wheel drive car, and I'm a New Orleans native (no experience driving in snow until the past few years in DC). I have easy access to public transportation so it's no problem to leave her garaged when it's snowing, sleeting, hailing, etc. That might be 12-15 days per winter in D.C.. I just thought I should check to see if there is any other reason to keep the Xfi put away on all the other winter days, when there's no wintery precipitation. Better to ask now.

If you have Pilots, it is very bad in any snow. If you have all season conti's better (a little). I live in Cincinnati. Same weather as you about 10-12 days of bad winter. I drive all year except on those really bad days.

I purchased snow tires from tire rack and before the first snow I have them installed. I also put about 100 lbs of weight in the rear. Drive like that till maybe march and put the pilots back on. Not counting the tires, the switch over cost $100.00 each time.

~ here is a unique idea... should fit well in the hatch of the crossfire (36" x 24")... for winter weight... 100 lbs.

bags of salt or sand work great cause you can use it when you get stuck also ... put it in a canvas bag so it does not dirty the trunk ...

Here in upstate NY the answer is to just take the car off the road for the winter. Then use the 4x4 in winter.

Or better yet, just let me take care of your cars down here in Florida for the winter and then you won't have to worry about any of those problems! I can start a car sitting business!!

I know, it must suck to me down here driving my convertible when you guys are worrying about what to toss in your trunk, which tires to get and to make sure you clean off the sand/salt from your car for 5 months out of the year.

But hey, if it makes you feel any better, I do have to use my heater and heated seats a few times in the winter. I mean, we do get cold, too! LOL.

Good luck to everyone that will be driving a Crossfire in the nasty weather - be safe...
