Default What does a Xfi owner really need in the trunk?

My previous car's storage space was pretty substantial, so when I got the Crossfire, I did a trunk purge - most of what was in the old car got thrown out rather than moved over. I had some doozies in there - some tools that antique collectors might have been interested in etc. So my question is, given little trunk space, what do other Crossfire owners consider it necessary to keep in their car in terms of tools, safety equipment, and other "if-stuff-goes-wrong"-stuff. I basically have the tire-fixer-upper that came with the car, jumper cables, a tire gauge, my locking lug nut key, a flashlight, a tiny first aid kit, an ice scraper, an atlas, a small bottle of water, and a small bottle of that if-you-run-out-of-fuel fake fuel. Is there anything else you keep in your cars that you think I'm missing and/or that you'd advise every Xfi owner too keep in the car? I like having the rest of the space empty for groceries and small suitcases, but if there's anything I'm missing I'd definitely want to add it rather than be sorry later. Thanks for any pointers.

A good quality tire plug kit but other than that you have pretty much everything but the kitchen sink...

Tire plug kit.
Shammie.
Meguires final inspection spray or equivalent.
Microfiber towel.
First aid kit.
All fits in the space under the mat to the right hand side.

You got it pretty well covered. Me, I have most of what you listed, and I keep the smallest Crossfire duffel bag in the trunk with a spare set of clothes. I also keep a blanket, a couple flares, a "roll-up" mechanics metric tool kit (couple wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, etc.), a small umbrella, a fold up rain poncho, and a plastic painters drop cloth (that rolls up small, in case I need to roll it out to lay down on a wet roadside and fix something). Still plenty of room for groceries.

A spare tire would be nice.

Which one the front or the back? Maybe you want both?

In the cubby under the floor mat I have the MB first aid kit and I also carry a AAA card and a cell phone. If I was going to be taking my SRT on a trip of some distance that might change a little, but for all the local driving I do, I feel my trunk has plenty.

I keep a small duffle bag with jumper cables, tire plug kit, map book of GA, and umbrella.

What is this fake gas that someone mentioned? Never heard of that.

thegoalie, I just went down to my car to check the name. It's "Pennzoil Roadside Rescue Emergency Fuel Additive." According to the label if immediately upon running out of gas you add it to your tank, the 64 oz bottle will take you 10 miles. It contains no gasoline or alcohol so it's non-flammable. It doesn't really say what it contains. Now before anyone asks me what in the world I'm doing even contemplating putting some mystery liquid in the gas tank of our fine piece of German machinery , let me say that I've had this bottle of stuff for about 5 years (first in my prior car and then in my Crossfire) and have never used it. The whole idea is you never need to use it, but if you end up on one of those highways where it's oh too long to the next fuel stop, diluting the tank is better than getting shot or assaulted on the roadside. It's a little insurance policy.

Thanks for asking goalie, when I went to check the name, I saw it was a little expired (not by much - has a pretty long shelf life) so I'll need to pick up a fresh bottle.

Lose the fake gas add a cell phone, AAA membership and a 9mm Glock compact; all three fit nicely in the console. Now you have increased your trunk space! Honestly though I could bring myself to pour that stuff into my tank. If you think you could repair a tire on the road the tire plug kit is then a must.

We already have a pump in the back.
It is nicely made.
It works well I used it when my wife got a flat in her PT cruiser and her spare was low on air.

Is it as powerful as this one?

I doubt it but the factory one does work well.

In my roadster, I've gotten a lot of use from the collapsible cargo organizer. I bought a Chrysler logo version on ebay for twenty clams. Keeps my briefcase from banging around when I drive with the traction warning light on.
