Default failed inspection 37,000 miles

went to dealer for oil change, replace foglight third time, since inspection was up in a couple weeks said go ahead. there is no check engine light on, but i still failed emission inspection. obd code p0410, secondary air injection system. unbelievable! anyone else have this code come up, and what was it? i am not going to let the dealer rob me again. it seems strange that once the car came off the warranty there is a problem. any help is good help, thanks.

I just failed in the same thing "secondary air status" and "evaporative status".
Was told that the secondary air status means that the air injection pump, hoses and or check valve are not allowing air into the exhaust system.
What did you find out on your car?

Another thing I was going to mention in 240's block off plate for sale thread is that you can measure the resistance and put a giant power resistor in there to keep the light from coming on. I never got that far with my car so I couldn't tell you what size/rating/resistance needed. Hope this helps.

Putting a resistor across the Air Pump plug is never going to work! It's probably the contact in the RCM, easy fix, just search RCM.

I had the very same "Check Engine" light malfunction with the Code P0410 just 2 weeks ago.
I had been tidying up under the hood, and unknowingly caught the hose connection to the " Secondary Air Pump". Just pushed the hose back on and another Forum Member "Magredvet" turned my "Check Engine" light off. Problem solved. The "Secondary Air Pump" is located underhood just to the Drivers side of the radiator. Hose Connection on the bottom. Hope your is just the same problem. Good Luck

I get the P0410 code about once a month. This is a multiple error code, it has to happen several times before the check engine light comes on. Once the car runs without the error it resets itself.

I have an Ultragauge which warns me of "Pending Codes". The first one does not turn on the check engine light, the second in a row does. I can clear the error code with the Ultragauge and I'm good for a month. I'm thinking it is a worn relay contact on the RCM, since it is so random.

I had the same problem as well (only secondary air pump P0410). It was the burnt contact on the pump relay. Once you I cleaned it, the engine light went away and i could hear the pump going at cold start for about 2 minutes. It is very common on our car and there are many posts on the subjuct with great pictures.

There are three wires that ground on the pump body, these have caused a problem in the past. Remove them and clean up any corrosion. Mine look a bit skuzzy after only 25,000 miles aas it's right in front of the engine and gets wet.
