Default Inconstant Function

I have a question that one of you out there might be able to answer for me. It's no big deal, but a bit confusing. As we all know, the doors automatically lock when you reach a certain speed. When I turn off the car and get out, sometimes my opening the driver side door will automatically unlock the passenger door and the hatchback. Other times they remain locked. Any ideas as to why this is or what triggers the auto-unlock?

Thanks,
Ricky Copeland

All three doors unlock when I open my drivers side door to get out.

If you only unlocked the driver's door when you got in, only the driver's door will unlock when you open the door. If you unlocked all the doors when you got in, they will all unlock when you open the door.

I don't manually lock the doors or unlock them. When I get in, start the car and drive off, the car automatically does the locking at approx. 12 mph. When I stop, kill the motor and then pull on the driver's door handle to open it, door, the car automatically unlocks my door (driver's door) and sometimes the passenger's door and hatchback. Other times the car leaves them locked when I exit. Hope this makes more sense.

Thanks,
Ricky Copeland

If you opened the trunk or the passenger door before you got in the car the last time they will all unlock when you open the drivers door to get out. If you only opened the drivers door only when you got in the car the others will not unlock.
Try it.

Before you get into the car to drive, do you press the unlock button on the remote once to unlock only the driver's door or do you press it twice to unlock all doors? That determines which doors unlock when you shut off the car and pull the handle.

YES! That's correct.

My remote is set up to open all three doors with one "click", so all three doors open when I exit the drivers side door.

There was a thread about a year ago (maybe more) about how to program your remote to unlock all doors with one push of the button. If you're interested, you probably can search for it.

You just push the lock and unlock at the same time and hold for about 5 seconds til you see the red light at the end of the remote flash twice. Then push the unlock button and both doors unlock. Do the same thing again to switch back to factory setting.
