Default Nav Voice w/o Music or radio

Is it possible to hear the nav voice without having the radio or listening to a CD?

I haven't been able to figure it out?

Thanks.

Cool Re: Nav Voice w/o Music or radio

I don't think so and there is nothing in the manual about how to do this.

What do you mean? With the radio off?

Nav voice without anything; silence except for the directions.

I have not tried it, but would be surprised if you couldn't. What happen if you turn the volume all the way down on the radio? Or, if you turn on the CD with no CD in it?

You have to play the radio to get the audio directions from the Nav. It will lower the radio volume (you can adjust this) and boost the nav lady's voice. With some short runs that you have already done (in memory) you might be able to play a CD. The nav system works on a CD so unless you have a changer, that option could be tough to do.

The closest you can come to no radio when using the nav would be to tune to a "dead" spot.

Burn a CD-R with silent tracks and set it to repeat.

I have yet to find out how to boost the nav voice... anyone got that info handy?

While using the nav if you push the left volume button the voice will give you the last set of instructions given on your route. While the voice is speaking you can adjust the volume up or down just to increase the decrease the voice for the nav only. I tried to turn the volume off for the radio but and the nav didn't go all the way off it went down to 3 (just barely audible) When I tried to raise the volume for the nav only, the radio would increase also but not as much. If the issue here is do you have to have the volume loud for the radio/CD to hear the nav voice the answer is no, if the issue here is can you turn off the volume of the radio/CD to listen to the nav I don't think you can but you can adjust the volume up and down for the nav without adjusting the radio/CD. Hope this isn't to confusing.

Thanks for the tip Iamfink2, that will help me adjust the NAV voice for the radio.

Cheers!

I don't have my Nav manual with me right now, but if you read it carefully, you will find where it tells you how to adjust the volumes so the nav voice comes on louder than the radio/CD. I think the radio/CD volume actually reduces while the nav voice is talking.
