350Z's are easy lunch for SRT-6. No questions asked. The 370 isn't that much of a threat, it would mainly be a driver's race. Same driver in both cars would yield quicker road-course times in the Z but the SRT takes the cake in the 1/4. Plus, I despise the synchro-rev and the interior of the 370 looks like a bad Lego project. Not for me...

While I agree that the RB26DETT is a great motor and makes gobs of reliable power if tuned correctly, the 3.5 is the moneymaker for Nissan. Make no mistake.

Smoked the pipe, and it wasn't bad. I'll stick to my cigars though.

I'm stoked at that cigars over the pipe lol....thats besides the point. The RB26DETT is the engine that made the skyline the beast it is today. I'll take a r33 gtr or r34 gtr over the new skyline hands down. i know you might work at nissan but i spent some time in okinawa and some other parts of japan and i think the japs would agree with me on this.

Question Re: was a toss up, 350z vs crossfire

I'm a large(r) male, so I'd greatly appreciate feedback from folks who've driven both the Crossfire & 350Z. How do the interiors compare in driver shoulder room, hip room & distance to steering wheel?

Thanks!

PDX.... that is an old thread, and I haven't been in anything new today, but I would say, even though I am a short guy, the room is about the same. I liked the XF seats better as I felt the Z's were more competition seats, a little firm. I like the Z, but I wouldn't own one. I enjoy my XF's. I want a new Vette, but I am too close to retirement to have my mid-life crisis all over again...lol

I just replied to your other message.
Speaking strictly of shoulder/hip room & distance from the steering wheel, which would you say has more?

Have you sat in either a Z or a Crossfire? It is always a good to try these things out yourself and go for a test drive. I'm 6"3 with 211 pounds, athletic and I never had any issues. It "fits" me perfectly. I don't feel claustrophobic and I actually enjoy sitting in the seat a lot more than some higher end sports cars that are too tight of a spot for me.
Btw, I don't own a roadster but the coupe and like I said never had a problem with the space or seats!

I've had several 280ZX cars. A 1979/81/82/83 and a 300 ZX. They all had way more room than the Crossfire. Never sat in a new 350Z, but I wouldn't think the interiors would be any smaller. That being said, I'm 6' 2", 215lbs, and like Nick, I too think my Crossfire fits just fine, with no claustrophobia.
I used to drive the Z's in a more laid back, arms out driving position. But I found the more upright position in the Crossfire to be more comfortable, and I discovered I don't have the neck pain that I used to get in the Z's after a long drive.

Back in the early 70's I autocrossed a stock Porsche 914 2.0 with 110 hp. In my class was the Nissan 240Z with way more hp.

I never lost to one, even on the more open SCCA Solo I courses.

My Z friends spent a fortune on upgrades trying to get the car to handle bettrer. Never could beat me.

I like the looks of the new Z, but find the interior clumsy.

Would never think of trading my XF for one.
