Re: BAS ESP Light
there are many threads about BAS ESP, actually mine came on a few days ago as well, i keep resetting it by turning the steering wheel all the way to the left and then to the right then bring it back to the center while the ignition is ON/RUN position. It goes away for a while then comes back. This could be a possible ABS module. I recommend you get it scanned for an accurate diagnosis.

Re: BAS ESP Light
I am having a similar issue. I was driving down the highway (minding my own business) when I noticed the BAS/ESP and the ABS lights were both on. I noticed the spoiler light was blinking as well. When I got into town the spoiler wouldn't go down. After shutting the car off and restarting it, the BAS/ESP and ABS light was still on but the spoiler light wasn't blinking. I set the spoiler down before I started driving, soon after taking off I heard a beep, the spoiler came up and the spoiler light started blinking again. I tried the left/right center reset several times but the lights remained on, spoiler remained up and blinking. This morning I tried reseting it again. After driving a short while the lights went out, spoiler stayed down. When I stopped at a local shop (for donuts) I started it up and the problem had returned. I have tried the reset twice since, and the lights and spoiler issue remain. I am hoping someone has had similar problems lately and might shine a more focused light on the issue. I looked all over the sight and other than the reset there really wasn't much there. Thanks in advance for any help. I really don't want to deal with the Chrysler mechanics if I can help it.
Re: BAS ESP Light
I create the bas light when I switch off my YAW sensor.
Suggest that you confirm that all the tires are at the correct inflation. Adjusting the steering wheel resets the steering angle sensor and corrects MINOR bas issues.
Spoiler, well that is another problem that is computer related and it is trying to show sumpting aint there.

If it solves the problems it will save $$$$$$$. If not at least you know they are OK.

Re: BAS ESP Light
I checked the tires earlier upon advice found here on the forum. The tires were fine, but I fine tuned the pressures to make sure. The "ground" advice is what I will be looking at next.
When we had our last big ice/snow storm I got her stuck in my own driveway. I noticed the next day that the clock had reset itself. So the battery, and or, connections are next. I have taken the terminals off and cleaned them. Though they were nice and bright. So that leaves that out.
I'm wondering about a bad speed sensor since it would be the most likely to affect all three of these areas.
If it weren't for the spoiler staying up and the annoying lights I wouldn't mind leaving it this way. These nanny systems are great for people who need a nanny. For me, they are a pain.

Re: BAS ESP Light
Team,
I got a similar problem today, I was driving normally and sudenly the ESP/BAS and ABS lights come on, I felt like the car stopping, then I turn off the car, and was not able to turn it on again until the 4th try, I continue driving the lights come on again, I down the windows and parked the car, then I start checking the fuses (all ok) and notice that the spoiler light was blinking, with the key on the ignition position I was not able to close the windows neither to put the spoiler down, when try to start the car was not able, then I check the battery voltage and was 8 volts, I change the battery for one that I have on my other car, and the XF worked ok, everything goes normal, spoiler light stop blinking, I drove the car for about 20 minutes, turn it off, when I started again the battery light come on, and then the ESP/BAS & ABS again, also the spoiler light start blinking again, I turn off the AC, but this time I did not down the windows, I parked the car at home, check the battery voltage and was ok (12V), but was not able to start the car again. If you have any suggestion please let me know.
Cheers.

Re: BAS ESP Light
I recently had my BAS/ESP light come on my 2004. It was accompanied by no brake light or cruise control function. I tried every quick fix that was recommended on this forum, wheel lock reset, unplug the battery, etc. to no avail. I finally broke down and took it to my trusty local mechanic. Within an hour he determined that it was the brake light sensor that had failed. It had caused the cruise control to also fail because both ran through the same sensor. He had the part delivered from the dealership and had it fixed within an hour. $40 part, $25 labor. Might be the cheapest repair I ever make for my Crossfire!
Re: BAS ESP Light
I had replaced the voltage regulator from the alternator, and the problem was fixed, the battery voltage was so low due to the bad regalutaro, the low voltage caused the malfunction of the other components (ASB, ESP/BAS) and the light come off, that was a quick and cheap fix.
thanks everyone.

Re: BAS ESP Light
I bought it by internet (Auto Parts at AutohausAZ - OEM Auto Parts - Discount Replacement Parts, Resources and Car Care Tips), around $60 USD.

Re: BAS ESP Light
I've had the BAS/ESP issue since I bought my car in June. The steering reset gets rid of the problem momentarily, but it always comes back and I lose the Cruise Control and Traction Control. I took it to the stealership last month and the fault they pulled was: 1529-101 Preloading for ESP not available.
The could not fix the problem there and then and advised me that I needed to bring the car back so their specialist electrician could look at it - at £109 per hour! I will be taking the car in next weekend and hopefully they can diagnose and resolve the issue.
After reading Dimitre12's post and a few others regarding this issue, I'm wondering/hoping if it could be a faulty Brake Light Switch. How would I test this? The brake light goes on fine when I press the pedal - is there something more I need to eliminate this as the issue?
Tyre pressures are fine and I have a new alternator.

Sometimes what is required is to read the shop manual and individually test the components that may be at fault.
To do this one would need to have a digital multimeter that can measure accurately small currents and resistances.
These days this seems to be beyond many dealerships, they prefer the basic 'Shock and Awe' method of replacing all components that could be faulty in the hope that one of them cures the problem.
You naturally have to pay for the components that did not need replacing and often the new components did not cure the problem anyway .... so sorry says the dealer as he counts his profit.
In situations like this you must demand all your replaced components be returned to you. You paid for perfect parts to be needlessly replaced and they are yours. If left in the dealers hands he could easily sell them in the next job and repeat the scam.
It is your right to see all items that are listed on the bill as replaced.
