Default About to pay 13k for a Xfire with 8,000 miles -- good deal?

Hello -- This is actually my first post on this forum and have been looking into getting a crossfire for the past few months and finally found a near perfect one with very low miles that has been babied by a car nut. THe carfax is clean and is has the two-toned off red leather interior with gunmetal exterior.. Do you all think this is worth it? thanks for the advice!

Welcome to the forums! What year is the car? Auto/manual? Mileage sounds nice.

Thanks It is a 04 and it is the manual version, of course... Autos aren't my thing

$13 may be a bit high for an '04. I would see if the seller would take $11,000-$12,000. Some things to check on the car:

1) See if the manual transmission will pop out of first gear (common problem for an '04 manual)
2) Check to see if the heated seats still work
3) Check for oil leakage around the valve cover

In the end, if it is a car that you like, then go for it!

I think he may laugh at me if I offer 11-12 but I will go for it...... thanks for the advice and it seemed to be just fine in first and there was no viable oil around the valve cover that i could see..

Try it, trust me, people are picking up '05 limited cars that are near perfect for under $10K. This one has no miles on it, but $13K is quite a premium for a car that has lost a lot of value over the years IMO

He may laugh at you but if the conditions of today continue, you will be laughing at him in six months because the car will still be on the lot.

the car is low miles but long on the tooth. Unless it is perfect and exactly what you want $13K is on the high side.

I would tell him $11,000 and give him you number. Two weeks from now, with it still on the lot stop by and offer $12,000. If they don't jump at it then they have too much into the car.

According to my used car saleman friend '04's are wholesaleing for $6K to $9K. Thats $9,000 to to $13,500 in a good market.

roadster with a stick

BTW, that is a stunningly gorgeous combination and rather rare.

Do not fall in love with the car---there are more. It is only worth $11,500 tops!!!! The two tone will bring down the price some and 6 sp will do the same from a dealer's view point.

I have not seen these $9-10k bargains yet. But I would be looking at 2005 or newer. Unless you are one the the rare drivers who doesn't care, it may be worth a small premium to get the color, seat color, mileage, and options you want. I was looking at a 2004 graphite, standard with under 10k miles two years ago -- the dealer wanted 14k. I ended up with the 2007 for $16.3k with some warranty remaining. Now you can tell I love graphite, but machine gray is gorgeous too (I almost bought a 2007 roadster a couple weeks ago but have no place to store it during the winter). There are cars out there for the bottom feeders, but the middle ground may be your best bet and you can certainly tell when the price is too high.

if stock radio Is still in there make sure it works Look under car and see if transmission connector is leaking ( if has been recently) replaced. Sticky key syndrome? Check all hoses and belts. 20 years can be tough on rubber parts , oil & filter is close to 8 quarts of premium synthetic . Heated seats work ? Hood support and rear hatch holds their weight ? Check front springs where p/n is stamped. Some springs crack there. Just a few things I look for when I’m checking out crossfires. Good luck. What color v
