It really did not take much modification to stop that.
Heavy shocks front and rear and twin anti sway bars to the single piece rear axle.
The car was incredibly easy to drift.
I also added trailing arms from the rear wheels to side skirt steel struts under the quarter panels. While it added weight (maybe 15 lbs) the handling improved immensly.
Off the line, not so great. Rear end was rather tall to acheive MPG. But the car did well in the twisties.

Now he has one in Primer with a 350 shortblock in it. Crazy stupid fast.
For those who think this is off topic, it isn't. Tuna may or may not agree but, for me, the Xfire was the first car to come along in 25 years to equate to the '75 to '79 Monza/Starfire/Skyhawk series.
At least in perma grin. The third gear was AMAZING!

It's funny how so many of us Crossfire owners share cars from our past and eventually we wound up here.
I came dangerously close to buying a new Buick Skyhawk, (hatchback) just because I liked the glass "targa" style roof. But after driving it, I walked away from it because it reminded me too much of my friends Chevy Vega.

The car was supposed to be powered by a Wankel Rotary engine. Tooling, body parts, production schedules, everything was set to go for a launch of this new "Vega." However, the Wankel did not pass emmisions so it was pulled leaving the Vega cast Iron 4, a detuned 305 V/8 and the six banger GM had brought back from AMC to put in their larger cars for improved fuel economy.
Motor Trend called the car a "poor mans Porshe" 'cause it had the lines and weight distribution of the 924's. With a drag Coeficient of .032 they recommended just folding the rear seat down and have a good time driving it.
I did exactly as I was told.
Years later I had a 924 for a while. Gravel lot dealer friend let me borrow it. The Vega/Monza/Skyhawk/Starfire/Sunbird was a better handling car. And remarkably cheaper to fix.
200K miles, redlined everytime I could get away with it, and I never replaced anything on the engine but the clutch.
And, Oh yeah, motormounts.
The body, brakes, radiator, cheap GM Vega.

This car does, as pointed out, resemble the 350z as well as the RX-8. Both of which I would have considered getting; except to me the 350 just has that flatness to the back I only like it with the top down (go figure). If the RX-8 had come in a two-seat roadster and was affordable, I don't know that I would have ended up with the Crossfire.
Either way, there is always going to be comparisons to other cars be it due to similar lines, swoops, etc. It is what it is and for the most part this new car looks pretty good but not enough like the RX-8 for me to consider.

The Nissan concept defintily reminds me of the Crossfire especially in silver in the tease photos.
but that's not a bad thing, is it? The world needs more beautiful striking cars and if Chrysler refuses to make another one someone else should.
This would make a fine 390Z(400Z?)
