car loses power at high rpms
car loses power at high rpms
Heres the problem, when i accelerate the car any kind of spirited it will lose total power either in the upper rpms of second gear or right after i shift to third. Now let me be clear the car does not stall or die out.....it is still running, it is just idling and will not rev if i step on the gas..... if i turn the car off and back on it will continue to run fine until i rev it up hard again in second. Has anybody experienced anythng like this? It is very annoying and my neck is getting sore from the sudden power loss haha....oh its an 04 limited 6-speed

Unless you have had it modified, the engine will cut out completely at 5740 RPMs.

These are the OEM specs.

I guess they should have read the maual before they looked at the computer screen.
Until I hear different that them, the owners manual sucks.

The fuel pumps seems to be a recurrent problem with these cars. I repalced mine and several others have had to replace theirs. The frequency is abnormal but don't look for a Chrysler recall.
It will not get better so look into it soon.

If the bas/esp light comes on then maybe it is to do with the speed sensors in one of the wheels, power is cut to the engine when that system is actuated.
As it seems to be speed related, I suspect something that measures rpm and the bas/esp does this, possibly one of the wheel sensors fails to match the output of the other three.

Re: car loses power at high rpms
Not sure about the rev limiter, i have pushed my car well pass 6000 rpm with no shut down, i also drive car with traction control off at all times. I had a issue when i first bought my crossfire of mystery shut down under normal conditions, trouble shoot from fuel filter, fuel pump, and result replaced the rcm car has been perfect, the rcm is a very common malfunction in the crossfire, good luck
Re: car loses power at high rpms
Just have to start looking at all things in line with what you are doing... Throttle Control Module... comes to mind... throttle signal interrupted for some reason would result in temporary loss of throttle... I have heard on the N/A's, that throttle problems can be linked to a dirty MAP sensor...

Sounds like a clutch problem. When the clutch that transfers engine power to the means of transmission, so that he can no longer entrust this power example is the torque, it will really start to drag, which increases the motor speed and lose power to your wheels. The remedy is to replace the clutch. check out the list of tsb for more info about recalls and tsb's .

Another member recently reported a similar problem. It turned out to be the fuel pump relay in the RCM. The fuel pump worked enough to start the car but the faulty relay (burnt contacts) would cause it to cut out under load.
