Default Radio question

I was wondering if any of you guys have noticed the brightness of the LED readout where you tell what channel your on. If the day is sunny I can't see it very well but late in the evening or early morning it shows ok enough. I know past GM vehicles I have owned changes to dimmer readouts when your headlights are on so at night its not too bright. Is there an adjustment for brightness or is this normal for the Infinity radio.
Thanks, Mike

I don't know what your build # is - but it sure sounds like you got one of the "old" radios. There is a TSB about the radio. Simple change-out and the new one is easy to read!

There is an adjustment for it . Its the left twist **** near your odometer. If you pull it out and turn right, the brightness should go up. If you turn it left...that's right you guessed it, the brightness goes down. It took me forever to figure that one out. I still think at night it's still not bright enough.

It's a possible TSB, bring it to your dealer and have it replaced

Default TSB

There is a TSB for replacement of the dim light effect of the OEM radio. I took mine in and the service department rep easily found it and a new unit is on the way. She sai maybe 7-10 days or sooner? She asked if my radio was dark background with lighter numbers or light with datk numbers and mine is dark background. I guess maybe the replacements are light? Don't know, what do you guys have on yours? My VIN is the 1000 one built. May of 03 for assembly. They are also going to check for the routing of the radiator hose as well since there is another TSB that has not been done on it. My car only has 1300 miles on it. A used car dealer purchased it in June of 03 but decided to sell it, thats why the low miles. Mike

The good radios have a light green background with black writing.

If your build# is 1000 - then you definitely have the old radio. You will notice a big difference when the new one is installed.

How much does the new one typically cost... mine is quite dim too, but i'm not sure warrantee is available to the second owner.
