Wow!!! Your gonna catch some flack for that post... but for one, I do agree with your comment... especially this Labor Day weekend, when so many folks won't make it home from the last weekend of the summer because of car wrecks. Most of which could have been avoided.

Thanks for your post.

I'm not trying to start in on you Andrew, you usually come across has a real level headed young person but you're really way off base with this one.

I would "almost" bet pink slips with you that the picture was not taken on a "closed" course anywhere. What makes you think that and how can you make a qualified statement without really knowing? Even if it was, anyone driving at that speed one handed and taking a picture of the dash at the same time is absolutely nuts and it doesnft matter if they're a "kid" or an "old fart". Sorry to have to disagree with you... ask "any" professional driver and the first thing they'll tell you is stay focused. Taking a one handed picture at 139 MPH would not fall within the top 10 list of the smartest things to do in life.

Everyone enjoy the rest of this holiday weekend and stay safec

The thing is that our Crossfires are so stable in that speed that you can still take pictures Not advisable though but it's possible.

I've tried 135 mph and it's just the same as running 60 mph...except that you're leaving the others behind

Dan, I believe they are the only country in Europe using MPH instead of KPH. Anyway 139 MPH equals close to 232 KPH give or take a few clicks... wouldn't that cause someone to crap in their shorts seeing that on a XF speedo???

Yes, you are right about the XF being "very" stable at speed and yes it is "very" possible to take a picture... safe/smart = NO. No matter how stable a car and how one tries to justify it... running at that sppeed is not even close to what it is at 60 MPH... sorry.

You guys are missing something important.

With parallax error taken into account, MARK_UK is only going 137 mph!

I took picture of mine doing 115 or so mph (on a deserted desert road outside of Phoenix-really), and it was a bit unsafe even at that speed to take a pic. I will not do it again. I had hit 130 and it was really hard to keep the car exactly straight with two hands at that speed. The road was two lanes wide in my direction, and I needed both to stay on course. The road is in excellent condition, but in my Crossfire, it was definitely not safe at 130 mph to be driving with one hand.

That is my experience with my Crossfire, and some would argue with that. But it is what I experienced.

I drove mine up to 250 KM/HR (155 MPH) and it was definetely stable, it's not like driving it at 60 MPH, but it's still very easy to drive with one hand.

Now that I have the Powerchip installed the speed limiter is supossed to be gone, I hope I can get to 165 MPH and take a pic there.

Look some may see it a stupid but it was soo easy to do that I don't care and it was the time of day when if I lost control it would have been only me knocking on heavens door.

Coming soon 140 +

No Andrew, you're reading something into this that is not there at all. None of these posts even come close to suggesting you were the person driving 139 MPH. I only commented on your post in which you stated, "...i'm sure the 139 mph was done on a closed course some where in england"., that's all. Please re-read the original post where I first replied to you... thanks.

I don't really care for high speeds I would rather hit acorner a little hard or go from 60-0 in 100ft or less.

My son (being of teenage mentality, I thought) had a picture on his digital camera of his Sonoma 4x4 pickup turning 36,000 and pictures of the speedometer going about 95mph, and I couldn't figure out who would be that dumb to take a picture of yourself breaking the law. He was already on probation for having a couple of speeding tickets. He said that ie was"really safe because he was on a U.P. road and there were no other cars in sight"
Funny how the word safe is relative to whom is saying it!
And now I know where he got the idea to take the picture! He's always on some forum or another! The things people come up with are VERY INTERESTING!
Just wish I knew who they were when I am on the road so I can make sure to stay away from them.

Oh yea, have a Pleasurable, but "safe" holiday weekend
