Ouch!!

I would expect it to cost about ’150 per panel that needs doing. Looks like deep damage in 2 places.

How bad was the taxi?

That's got to be expensive. Sorry mate.

Knowing what my excess is on my insurance and I couldn't lower it, I expect this will come out of your own pocket rather than an insurance job. Bummer. :-(

I thought this was going to be another one of those racing stories.....

Sorry to see the damage. Looks like the Minicab was green?

sorry to see this...

after your estimate for the repair...use finger nail polish remover on a towel to remove the extra paint remaining on your crossfire from the minicab (this will not affect your factory paint). this way it won't look as bad until it's repaired.

scotth_uk,

A real bummer!!! I just had my rear bumper replaced for $814.00...
I believe that's about ’454 or so. My damage is not nearly as what
your car has but still enough for me to change it out. Lucky I have
low insurance deductables....

Good luck with yours!!!

AZ,

Your dents look like rear parking sensors. You should have saved the money and left them in.

Nope, they were put there by "me" drifting back
into of all things, another XF at one of our meets.
Yes, the damage is minimal but still noticeable and
most folks would have let it go. Being very picky
on how this car looks, I had it fixed. It cost me $100
out of pocket for my insurance deductable, so why
not?

I may get dogged on this part of the story but then it's my
car and I had a business arrangement with the body shop
and they failed to fulfill their end of the deal...

I "specifically" asked (which was annotated on the work
order) that the old part be returned to me. By law they
are required to do so if a customer asks here in the US.

As stated in a post above and I agree, the damage was
minimal. For that reason I wanted to keep the old part
as a spare. If I had to replace the bumper again, all
I would need to do is to repair/repaint the bumper and
hang it myself.... at a fraction of the cost the insurance
company shelled out for this one.

Long story short... they threw the old bumber away. The body
shop is not very happy and someone is going to have to pay out
of their own pocket for the mistake. After going back and forth
with the shop owner, they are ordering me another bumper and will
to paint it. Not a nice ending... but that's business. They are not
my friends nor are they family. They did not give me nor the
insurance company any special favors when taking our money on
the price of the repair.

Anyway, my car is fixed and I will have a "new" spare rear bumper
to hang on my garage wall along with the "slightly damaged front
bumper I already have.

AZ,
Sounds like they just fixed the old bumper instead of getting a new one, and charged the insurance company for it. Guess you got them good if they ordered you a new one and painted it as a spare!
You are getting so many parts on your wall, we know where to go now if we need another bumper!! You can sell spare parts!

Hi guys,

Thanks for the concern. The minicab looked much worse. Will post another pic later today.

The repair bill comes to just over ’1000 including VAT. Only part to be replaced is the reflector. Hilton's Coachworks are doing the repair up in Bishop's Stortford as recommended by Lanceaster's (Chrysler dealer).

Bumper is to be removed, repaired and resprayed. Door is to be repaired and resprayed along with the wing.

:-(

Okay, I'll bite... why :?:

But to answer your question... it is "very" lite, you can easily hold it using a couple of fingers.

AZ,

Am seeking out the heavy bits on the car and trying to find a lighter alternative.

Since you have confirmed the front bumper is extremely light, there is no point me trying to relace it. Moving on to other bits.

What I would really like is an ultra-light flywheel.
