Default CUP HOLDER BLUES

CUP HOLDER HELP! Since we all share the same opinion about the useless cup holder in '04 coupe - I thought I was being tested trying to get a round cup into a square holder! Anyone find a coffee container that works?? I've had my car for 3 weeks waiting each morning for the puncture of my foam cup - and it finally happened this morning but able to avert a hot soaking. Need my coffee for 45 mile morning commute. Help!

Can't remember if they've reached you yet, but Krisp Kreme donuts sells a travel mug that works fairly well for $2 or $3.

Sounds good but no krispie kremes in my part of New York, however, I've had in Florida and remember the cups as heavy duty foam which probably makes them more puncture-proof than the cheap ones. Thanks!

this is the worst thing they can put in this car. mine gets in the way when I try to shift. who put this in here and why there? there really shouldn't be any in the car and only one..... mine even comes up when i hit a bump now. how annoying. i am trying to figure how to get mine out and replace it with the cheaper virsion found on the '05 cheap models.

Cheap is of course relative; 30 grand is hardly cheap for 2 door sports car.

mackin jersey, I work for a large chrysler dealer in parts. If you send me the VIN# for the standard coupe then I can send you the part # for the console plate that doesn't have the cupholder. By the way, Dave's right, there is nothing cheap about 30 grand for any 2 dr coupe. LOL!!!! 30 K is 30 K!
I'd be glad to help any of my brother and sister Crossfire owners with any parts problems. Just e-mail me with a detailed explanation, VIN# and picture of whatever part issue you may have and I will be glad to help.

Default Here is MY solution

I bought this cup since I wasn't willing to give up my coffee. It's the best 30 bucks I ever spent. In addition to fitting in the Crossfire cup holder, it keeps coffee hot for hours and the top can be screwed down so it doesn't leak at all! I've since bought 2 more as gifts.

Good luck.

Thanks for link to Nissan travel mug. Just got a free one from a client in a similar shape and it works. However, I like the rubber bands on your mug and will keep it it mind. I just hate shelling out $30!

Default Cup holder Woes

I hate the cup holder, but not only is mine a bad design, it doesn't stay up half the time. I ended up buying a $3 cup holder from Target that sits in the armrest and holds everything including the SuperSize cups from McDonalds. It's a little annoying to open the armrest when I have a drink, but it's a lot easier to get the cup in and out of the new cup holder.

Try this one.... 99 cents each...jumbo sized plastic cupholders...
bent them (they are 'over the window' holders, and tucked into the center console....one on each side, just in front of seat, flat on the floor ...

They work great...

I read a suggestions somewhere on this forum that works pretty well. Go to your local autoparts store and buy one of those cheapy plastic cupholders that are designed to hang over the edge of your door but don't use it that way. Instead, set it on the floor just in front of either the driver's or the passanger's seat next to the console. Take the part that is supposed to hang over the door and bend it upwards so it points up. That strip of plastic can then be slipped under the edge of the console securing the cupholder in place. It works pretty well and when your not using it to hold a beverage, it makes a great place to store your cell phone.

DO a search for my post "Cupholder Solution Mod" which explains step by step how to remove your cupholder and convert it to a changeholder/cellphone/whatever holder.

Thanks but I too sell Chrysler's and get the parts @ cost.
I actually found that if you get mad enough and hit it just right, it will (has) break in the down/stowed position and hasn't given me any grief since.
