Six Speed Manual "Long Throw Clutch" and First Ge
Six Speed Manual "Long Throw Clutch" and First Ge
Ive test driven the CF Limited a number of times, with a 6 speed manual. Ive noticed that in order to have a smooth take off from a stop, I ride the clutch a bit to engage the drivetrain without jerking and bucking the car. What is your experience with the 6 speed? With 1st gear takeoffs? Thanks for your valuable feedback.

I've noticed the long throw of the clutch and I can honestly say that after two months of ownership it really doesn't bother me. Every once in a while I'll catch myself thinking about the take-off or gear change, but these occurences are rare.
Also, first gear is kind of funky, in my opinion. I wouldn't have minded a slightly lower ratio so that you could wind it out a bit longer before needing to shift to second.

I've found the transmission has smoothed out A TON now that I'm close to 10,000 miles.. At first sometimes it wouldn't even go into first but I just forced it anyway, I think based on how she drives now, that was probably the right thing to do.. no more clunky first and second. Shes super smooth. I swear.
Has anyone else noticed this??
Also I was going to say that the only problem I notice with the short throw, long clutch, is sometimes I want to start moving the gear **** before the clutch is all the way down... I still have to try hard to remember to push it ALL THE WAY down before moving it to another gear, and not to let the clutch out until I'm done moving it. Thats the only annoying thing.
