Angry heavy assed cargo cover.

I recently bought the Mopar cargo cover and man is this thing heavy. I mean it reminds me of carying an extra barrel for the .50 cal machine gun. This thing has a piece of 3/4" angle iron for the mounting bracket. Why didn't you guys let me know it was going to be this heavy?

I got it @ cost, but to what cost to me in the long run. You'd think that the guys @ Mopar would realise this is going in the rear of an allready taxed vehicle, so why not make the angle piece out of aluminum or thick plastic?

I think there is going to be a lot of modifications before this goes into my car, although I need to cover my junk.

ANy one else notice this?

Mine was fitted before I collected the car so I don't know how heavy it is. But I couldn't live without it.

Why can't you live without it? I'm just curious, cuz it seems to me that it serves no real purpose other than covering your stuff from prying eyes. Is that it?

Thumbs down Re: heavy assed cargo cover.

Yeah when my Dealer ordered one for me, I was really surprised that it was so heavy, so I'd passed it along to another forum member that wanted it. (at cost).

I carry a work laptop and other valuable items around with me. I can't have these sat there for a thief to see. The car would be broken into every week!

the weight doesn't bother me...

the crossfire is not fast (keep in mind i had a 02' M3 prior) so a little extra weight won't slow down a semi-quick car too much...

i value the convenience.

I've been looking for the cargo cover but only found it on Chryslers UK website. I asked my local dealer if they could order it internationally but they said no. Is this available through MOPAR US now? If so, what is the product number?

UK dealers can order them fine. They just have to look on the computer as did my dealer. The brochure does not list these parts but after asking a number of questions my dealer looked it up on the system and found them.

How much is the cargo cover? Is the Mopar and the one from dealership is exactly the same?

the one i've seen on here that is European is different from the Mopar version. I like the Mopar version better. That is the correct part # as I used it to order mine. I installed it sunday. Not hard once I figured out the holes are allready in the rear of the bulkhead. I put the bolts behind the carpet for a much cleaner look.

The instructions are only pictures, no words. and the measurements are metric. I pulled the liner/carpeting away and found the holes, then put holes to correspond in the carpet/liner. Nice and clean, covers all my junk.

Cool Re: heavy assed cargo cover.

(first time on the website) - re: cargo covers, yes it's keeping your stuff from prying eyes that is the issue. I went to a local fabric store and got some black canvas-like material - I think it's called "duck" cloth - for about $10, cut it to (over) size, and just throw it over any stuff in the back. look in the rear window and you can't see a thing down there - and no installation, no heavy metal pieces, etc. of course, this may not be to everyone's taste, but I think it works great.

Sounds good, whatever works! I have a Roadster, so I don't have that problem. Mine is that I can't fit as much in the back as you can.

fjofjo...exactly how would one pronounce that?

welcome to the forum.
