Question Brake-in oil...change now or wait?

My Xfire Roadster has hit the 1000 mile mark. Should I change the brake-in oil, or leave it and get an oil change at the stated manual interval? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I don't think there is actual Break in oil it's just mobil 1 ,I changed my Xf at 3,000 1st about every 5000,after that.Unless your driving it hard I would do the factory requirements .

I don't think there is any need to change the oil at 1000miles. Were talking synthetic oil here and with todays engines an early change like that is a waste of money.

Most postings I have read here suggest first oil / filter change is a little before the regular interval. In my case, I changed both oil / filter at 10,000km or about 7000miles. I'm not using the computer read-out for that but decided just to change oil every 10,000km.
Easy to remember. I think you should do what you feel comfortable with but certainly
at 1-2 or 3000miles is a little early.

Since theres no break in on this car, theres certainly no break in oil. Most people have stated they did their first oil change at 3k or 5k, personally I did mine at 6.5k and I still had 1500 miles to go according to the computer which monitors everything.

1000 miles is wayyyy too early in my opinion.

I don't really think DCX would state the first oil change should be done at 7k if there was any significant risk in that.. After all, they own all the leased Xfires, and if doing an earlier oil change was going to save them thousands of dollars, millions even, they'd certainly schedule them earlier. The fact that a company who makes and OWNS thousands of these cars says 7k, makes me feel pretty confident in that number. I don't think theres much of a need to second guess.

I did mine at 3500 and (I know there is some disagreement on this) the shop did something to increase my HP.... I would say around 3500 is a good time to get the first change.....

I also read in the manual that there is a "1000 mile" break-in period.

I don't remember exactly what the manual says, but it's something about avoiding full throttle accelerations and avoid revving the engine above certain RPM's for 1000 miles. It doesn't say anything about changing the oil at the end of this period.

There is no break in period, the manual does say to ne "nice to the engine for the first 1000 miles. I changed mine at 1500 miles. Probably wasn't necessary, but I usually change oil in all my cars more frequently then required. Can't sya that's why, but I've never had a motor problem. Except for one old corvett back in 72 that I kinda missed 2nd and overwound.Droped a puss rod. Wasn't very pretty at all. 3500 is probably a better choice.

To my knowledge they ALL have Mobile1. The manual says Mobile1 or Mopar Equiv.
As far as the mileage recommended..........................I couldn't do it!! I tried!!
I only made it to 5K and couldn't hold out any longer.
I accept the manufacturers claim that the oil does not break-down BUT it still gets dirty!!!
When I have to turn the dipstick to the sunlight to see the level because the oil is so clean, I'm happy.
If I'm not mistaken, Formula 1 cars change the oil (more quarts than we use) EVERY RACE!
So $80.00 is a lot.........but it's every THREE THOUSAND for me like I do in my others!!!!
