Question 3M clear bra installation ...

Hi everyone:

I have been thinking about getting the clear bra done for a little while now. However, I have been having a lot of difficulty getting hold of installers in my area. So far, I have only gotten hold of one. They are charging me $700 dollars to do the hood, the front bumper, the lights, and the side mirrors. Does that sound alright? Thanks.

sounds about right.

i have installed 3 crossfire kits. the bumper is a daunting task. be sure to see some of the installers prior work...very important imo.

take a look at this kit for added protection (optional pieces)...i highly recommend protecting the rocker panels.

with this product...you get what you pay for.

stick with a reputable company...xpel, stongard or invinca-shield. i have installed over 100+ kits.

trust me on this one.

Thanks for the help! I really appreciate it. I have seen some pics of the installer's work. The quality seems good. I am trying to go with xpel and maybe invinca-shield. Hopefully, I can get it done soon. =)

you must see his work in person...pics don't show the flaws.

My Dealer had the complete thing done for $ 500.00, and where it was done through the dealer they will Warranty the work. They did a great job! I had it done when I bought the Crossfire. I don't know if this made a difference. However I've checked after and this is not the least expensive, but very resonable concidering it will be honored by the dealer. $700 I think is way too much!

Unfortunately, my local dealer does not do the installation, nor do they have someone they would recommend. It looks like I will have to go with an outside installer. What I don't know is how much more it would be to get the rocker panel ( or the other pieces ) done as well as Andrew suggested.

Check out the X-Pel web site, looks like they have plenty of LA installers.

I started with the INVINCA-SHIELD site. However, most of the listed installers I contacted said that they were no longer doing installations because of the hassle. I am most likely going with a XPEL installer.

I went and looked at the local akron ohio installer for the 3M product which is just down the street from me. He had it installed on a white van of his. It was smooth, but it had been on there for a while and had stone nicks in it that looked as bad as stone chios in the paint. Plus the clear bra made the car adifferent color. sorta like old scotch tape all over the front of the car. I might put it on the rocker panels, but no where else. I asked him how it looked on black and he said the color difference is more noticeable on black.
I highly reccomend Langka which was described in another thread. www.langka.com
it is a liquid that dissolves the top of paint bubble that you always get when you try and touch up a nick. Whatever is in(maybe some sort of weakened Lacquer thinner) that you put on a cloth folded over a small piece of plastic that leaves the touch up smooth with the surface. MAKE SURE YOU DON'T WAIT UNTIL THE PAINT IS COMPLETELY DRY. If it is still a little soft is levels up very good. before you let someone put the plastic on your beauty make sure you go look at one that has had it on there for a while. You won't like the look!
