Default My last 24 hours

I've been on the forums for about two months and couldn't wait much longer to buy myself a Crossfire. I've been looking for one for some time now. I finally found one just south of Chicago and took a couple of days to drive up there and buy it. An 05' alabaster coupe with 68,000 miles and a black interior. I will put some pictures up when the rain stops here. Anyway...on the way back to KC it became noticeably more difficult to turn the key, until at one point I spent ten minutes until the key turned and I could start the car. I knew what was happening but was in a state of denial. So I got home and pulled up the Sticky Key PDF and got to work. I'm happy to say I took care of the ignition and the car runs pretty good. Just glad I finally own a Crossfire. I can guarantee I wouldn't have a Crossfire sitting in my garage without the Forums.

-Thanks to all of you

I'm glad ya made it home When I looked at the car for you on both occasions ironically I was not the one who started the car therefore I didn't notice the "Sticky Key" problem Something for me to remember on any future Crossfire I go to look at for a potential buyer. I'm glad you were able to fix it with the help from this forum. As I told you.....most anything that might go wrong has been discussed and diagnosed somewhere here over the years. Enjoy your new car and maybe we can see you at CAA6 in June in Eureka Springs Arkansas Gary

Well your one up on me already! (sticky key fix).. I've learned a "flip it over" that has been working flawlessly through it for 3 years now.. LOL. My wife does have issues with it though..

Glad you got her home safe and sound!

Glad you got your Baby and did the Sticky fix!

Ugh. Something I still have to do! Even have the printed out instructions sitting on the kitchen counter. One of these days!

DJ...knock on plastic, I haven't done either car either... I really haven't had the problem. I still believe it is the same problem that Chevy suffers. Too much junk on the key change, but I may be wrong. Just my key fob on the ring and both are still working for now.

Mine hasn't been done either. It's sticky since new but keeps working as long as I'm gentle with it.

Same here. Needs a little finesse. I've got a new lock cylinder on the shelf but have postponed the job for the last three years. Getting lazy in my old age.

It's not the lock cylinder that's the problem.

No mods are done to the cylinder, the mod is done inside the housing body. The cylinder is the roundish part the key goes into.

I was saying that is not the part that normally gives trouble.

It was on my '04, I went ahead and did the column fix while I was there, but mine had a bad lock cylinder, $69 at Mercedes and just cut a new key to match the cylinder (it comes with a micky mouse key to use as a pattern) and reinstall the new cut key in your key pod.
