Transmission Vibration in low gears
Transmission Vibration in low gears
2004 Coupe - 35,000 miles
My car has developed a shudder vibration, when it downshifts into the lower gears. If I push on the gas when this symptom occurs, it acts as if it is limp mode, but it always kicks out of it once I let off the gas and the car slows a bit. There is no whining sound and it shifts fine at highway speeds. I wanted to check the fluid level this weekend, but couldn't find the dipstick for the tranny, I also read in another post that the TCM could be an issue.
Anyone have any other thoughts as to what I may check, I wouldn't think the fluid would need changed with on 35K on the car.

There is a sealed tube at the rear of the engine for adding fluid, you can get a dipstick and resealable parts from eBay.

Re: Transmission Vibration in low gears
Here's my current list of possible solutions, ranked in no particular order
1) TCM, $100, used
2) Valve body:
New sleeve kit, $66,
Sonnax 68942 05K Overlap Control Valve Sleeve Kit Fits 722 6 Mercedes Benz Trans | eBay
Master Overlap Valve Sleeve Kit - 68942-05K - Sonnax
Rebuilt valve body. $399
722.6 OEM Valve Body
3) Modify valve body , negligible cost, seems to be very successful Sprinter modification for RSN, Rumble strip noise, which I'd describe my transmission problem as
https://dieselrepairblog.wordpress.c...on-rsn-repair/
My friend that sold me the car said the problem started out very slowly and then got worse, so I suspect the valve body has leaks, that have continued to allow more and more fluid to bypass, also this seems to be a very well documented problem with the 722.6...
Please keep the forum posted if any of these repairs are tested
