Default Toll Pass

Thoughts on removing a previously installed Sun Pass on the windshield of my 08 coupe

I am assuming that these cars have tinted windshields but then again I don't want to get into removing an extremely stuck on pass only to find that there is film behind it.

Thanks

Not being able to see your windshield I really cannot say. Mine is located directly behind my rear view mirror and I have no tint that would be removed if I were to peel off the sun pass. BTW, I'm in Sarasota and we have a nice group that meets for car shows, lunches and drives at least once a month. Private message me for more info if you are interested.
And Welcome.

My understanding is removing the SunPass will render it useless.

It will be useless OT48, I just want it off, I have no need for it.
It is a white patch on the windshield that in imho doesn't belong there.

As long as you don't scrape it off, you should have no problems removing it. Worst part will be getting the glue residue off. Use a microfiber and Goof Off to rub that stuff off the glass.

I think you will find that any tints to the OEM windshield are sandwiched between the glass layers. If you have an after market tint then it will be on the inside surface. The shading at the top of the glass is on the inside though.

I am inclined to agree with ya, the car was originally bought in Texas and so I would imagine it was ordered with tinted glass, or did they all just come with it as standard equipment?

Not an offered option. If it has a tint strip on the windshield, it was done by a previous owner.

The glass is tinted on all the Crossfires, they came that way, the tint is inside the glass and as long as the sticker is not on that dot pattern at the top of the windshield you are OK to scrape of the offending decal.

As a footnote, I've replaced my front windshield twice and apart from the factory glass, which I couldn't find, I was given 2 choices. The VISUAL difference between them was the tint at the top of the glass. Blueish tint on my China glass.

I should have posted this photo to begin with, it looks all is good about scraping/goo goning, whatever it takes to get this thing of of the window. That sucker is really stuck on there.

Try heating it up with a hair dryer first.

I don't have a hair dryer, so I took a razor blade and started it at one corner and then just pulled it off, it was on there.
Now that I was 100% knowing what I was dealing with I just used my favorite magic lotion, goof off - not to be confused with goo gone. Both have their pluses but i prefer the goof off for a heavy layer of adhesive removal. Mission accomplished, thanks guys
