Default Right Upper Control Arm

I have a 2004 Crossfire Limited. I was having new front tires installed at my mechanic. and he told me that the Right Upper Control Arm and was quoted $350 for the parts and another $400 for the labor. Sounds like he was getting chrysler parts.

I have another mechanic that I have used who will allow me to buy my own parts or he will just order but it seems crazy to order it from Chrysler.

Is there a mercedes part number that might be less costly?

Thanks in advance,

Jonathan

These parts are so amazingly simple to change. You can have the old control arm out of the car within 5 minutes of having the wheel off. There is absolutely NO way this should take 400 dollars in labor. You do not even need an alignment after replacement. This car by far has the easiest upper control arm replacement I have ever done. I got both driver and passenger side from this vendor on ebay: New Front Upper Passenger Control Arm and Ball Joint Assembly | eBay

It is one long bolt with a nut that passes thru the front tower and a nut on the ball joint. You would be amazed at how easy this is to replace.

Thank you 07AeroBlue,

If the Ball Joint needs to be replaced do you have a part # for that? I wish I could have looked at it when they had the tires off. If I replace one side do I need to replace the other side as well or will the fitment not change with the Mercedes/Detroit Axel Parts.

Thanks again,

Jon

Detroit Axle also has the lower ball joints for the XF/SLK320 at a very reasonable cost. I have always ordered suspension components and axles from them and have always gotten a good quality product. They do also have the driver side upper arm with ball joint for the XF/SLK320. The upper balljoint cannot be changed out by itself, you have to replace the whole arm. If I remember correctly, you do not even have to disassemble the brakes to do the upper arms.

Thanks again,

So these are the parts I ordered:
Ball Joints

Front Upper Right Control Arm & Ball Joint Assembly

Front Upper Left Control Arm & Ball Joint Assembly

Anything else I should order for this job?

Again much appreciated.

Jonathan

That is all you should need for the uppers. The long bolts are under the hood, head of the bolt is on the side of the tower facing the front. If I still had my XF i'd take a photo to show you
