Default Does your Crossfire Roadster smell funny?

I work for a local Chrysler Dealer and we have 2 Roadsters, used 05's both with under 10,000 miles. One of my jobs is to check out the vehicles on the lot and every time I get in either one of the Crossfires, they have a funny odor to them. Is this common? I'm thinking that maybe it is coming from the material used on this car.
Comments please!

I have an '05 roadster, and I don't think it smells particularly funny. Mostly I think I can smell the leather seats, but that seems normal. Can you describe the smell? Is the smell exactly the same in both?

Agree with MI Roadster. Mines an '05 and doesn't smell funny at all. If anything the leather smells a bit but not offensively.

The smell is exactly the same in both but it doesn't smell like leather. I might get into a 100 different cars in one day some leather and some not but these 2 always smell like they give off an odor, sort of a putrid smell. That's why I ask this question. Evidently it most be something common in the material that is used in these cars.

You said they are both used with under 10,000 miles on them...where did they come from? Perhaps you are smelling mold/mildew if they were "flood" cars from New Orleans, etc.

Just a suggestion.

Mine is a '05 roadster and all I smell is maybe the leather seats also. The "sort of a putrid smell" I have no idea about.

No these cars were Factory cars that came from Pennsylvania.

When I turn on the AC, I get the smell of antifreeze. Anyone else?

Maybe a leaking heater core?

Or possibly microbial growth on the AC/heater coil. Easily enough taken care of.

I usually smell a charcoal-like smell when the heater turns on... is that normal?

Mine had a slight smell to it once. I found condensation had accumulated in the rear compartment. I wiped it up and let it air out and now the smell is gone. I would check in that area.

Exclamation Re: Does your Crossfire Roadster smell funny?

I found that condensation accumulates if you leave the A/C on while the top is down (and in turn starts to smell). To remove the smell drive the car with the blower fan on but the A/C off. The condensate will disappear and the smell is gone.

Just don't forget to switch the A/C (or fan) off when driving with the top down.

Ours doesn't really smell funny, just like new leather I guess. It's never had that new car smell that the Escape and I35 both had, but we're guessing that's due to the fact that it was driven 350 miles to us, probably with the top down.

To the two guys who smelled antifreeze thought the air conditioning. Historically that could mean a bad heater core...
