Default Factory GPS

Took my XF into the dealer for the first time and was totally disappointed. I couldn't get the GPS to setup. It says GPS antenna error. Book says take to dealer. Dealer tried and advised me to try some other dealer because they could not get it to work either. Any suggestions/tips from another forum member?

The factory GPS is junk. I purchased one to replace my stock head unit and I'm extremely disappointed. There are only a few technicians trained on the installation of the GPS system b/c Chrysler's navigation network/system is incompatible with the MB wiring. I'm getting rid of my GPS completely after my next car show and I'm going with a Garmin. Good luck, I suggest you speak with a MB dealership b/c they are more familiar with the stock GPS.

Cya,
Chas.

Cool Re: Factory GPS

My NAV radio has worked fine since day one, only downside is that there are no update CD'S available. Have the Tech pull the radio out and check the "speed sensor cable" just a guess. I think awhile back another forum member had the same problem.

Many Many Thanks. I pulled the radio today and pushed in the GPS antenna cable. I started the car and did the 1, 3 option reset and low and behold the radio/GPS picked up 4 satellites in about 2 minutes. The clock started working and I was able to enter a destination and have the little lady in the radio direct me there. Great.

Do you think they well (DCX) come out with updated GPS disks?

Doubt it. The manufacturer of the unit may though (Becker, I think).

I don't think some of these daelers and manufactures understand the power of the Internet. It can make them or brake them. No more local rumor mill.
