Worlds most expensive replacement key
Re: Worlds most expensive replacement key
Here she is.
I sure which I had a picture of the wheels before they fixed them but all four look like this.
The car is not perfect, but it is by far the best I found within 150 miles or so. I looked at an 06 with 20k miles and and several 05's with between 20k and 60k that didnt look as nice.
It has a few chips here and there and the seat bottom heaters dont work ( backs do) but it has a full service history at the same dealer. Records show a new top 1 month old, new Crank pos sensor last spring, valve cover reseal, trans plug reseal, steering dampener and lots of other things. So I think I did OK. Not as pristine as I had hoped for, but nice none the less. The dealer really went the extra mile and I highly reccomend them.

Re: Worlds most expensive replacement key
Hmmm, looks so much like mine I had to run out to the garage and make sure it was still there.
Very nice looking ride, Andy. Congrats. Let the permagrin begin!
BTW, let me know how the 303 protectant goes on and how well you like it. I plan on doing that in the spring.

I use the 303, I put it on in 3 or 4 LIGHT coats over a day or so. I think the stuff is amazing. Would not use anything else at any price - turned my already new-looking top even DARKER. I sprayed the hose on the top this summer, then used a towel to wipe it off. SEEMED dry right away.
IMO, 303 is the only way to go.
Re: Worlds most expensive replacement key
Just so you know...
I bought a replacement key for my Mercedes-Benz SLK230 Kompressor at the Mercedes dealership and it cost me 173ish including tax. They ordered it from Germany. I had to sign a bunch of papers, give my insurance and registration information at the time of purchase.
It came in 2 weeks later. When it did I asked about all the paperwork...they need to verify ownership and then the sales guy said that he had to be held responsible for the key. I guess they are serious about theft management.
When I complained to my brother he laughed. His Ford Excursion key cost 250 and they cut it in the shop.
You are being taken. Deal Breaker.

Congrats on the purchase, and the car seems to have all of the common issues addressed (Crank pos sensor, valve cover reseal, trans plug reseal, and steering dampener).
With the minor dents and wheels taken care, the car looks great.
If you can post the mileage, and price, that will help from a reference point (for others who are shopping around)...

I ended up paying $14,900 plus tax, title and tags
It had 48k when I bought it.
I have spent some time checking everything out and no surprises
except for the rear bumper cover having some dents and marks from
bumping into another vehicle.
Thats getting fixed next week.
