Help picking which model to buy
After owning a Chrysler Prowler for the last 16 years, it's time to make a change.
My question for you is, between a Crossfire limited Roadster and a SRT6 Roadster, is there a difference in reliabity.
We like to take the Prowler on weekend trips, and occasionally out for a week or two at a time with other Prowler friends.
Can we do the same with the Crossfire without worrying about brackdowns?

the cost, srt much more
the enjoyment, srt much more
the srt only comes auto transmission
the Hp, srt much more limited 225, the srt 350
the cost of repairs the same, if any...
exposure, about the same as prowler maybe more
parts, easier than prowler, people here will tell you how to repair anything and everything
there are so many meets within 100 miles of you

Well, your question is very specific: Is there a difference in reliability?
The answer is yes: the same failure points exist in all of the cars, but the SRT has the I/C pump which fails a LOT. So there is that. However, the simplicity of replacing the pump and the low cost imply to me that the SRT is not substantially more costly or less reliable.

Get one that has had the top replaced or a new top fitted.
Get one that has been looked after and not abused. Look for water in the trunk under the passenger side foam block.
If you get left at the lights by a Honda Civic you'll wish you had got an SRT or an auto tranny NA.
An after market SC pulley on an SRT is quite possibly a ticking time bomb, if it has one of these pulleys make sure the LM21 pulley shield is fitted.
Get a low mileage SRT or regret it later. Get one with two working keys and a spare SKREEM if possible.

I got a cushion for my back. Not the prettiest looking but cured the back problem.

What is wrong with being at the track every Friday night? I think that shows how durable these cars are the trick is not to open the engine,, in other words, have your mods exturnal I have never owned e a car that i didn't take to the track.I remember years ago when i drove chevy's i broke down every week, but the crossfire , in 11 years only once and that was my fault,, (welded rear and forgot to turn off traction control) broke the axle but being the rear was welded, YET i still drove home with a axle stub hanging in the air.

I own one of each and they are fun in their own way. I bought the roadster first/new because in my mind a two-seater should be a stick and a convertible and still love driving it. Live in MI and it has been to NY a couple times and FL once. My only concern on a long drive is losing a tire.
The SRT6 has been on shorter trips, is a blast to drive (fast), but is more uncomfortable due to the stiffer suspension. The SRT6 you found has a lot of extras that justify the higher price, if that is what you want. Generally the roadster versions are $2-3k more than the coupes (about $6-8k more when new).
I don't race either although I have driven both of them to close to their top speeds. Both have been very reliable. Both are garaged when not driven and no problems with the roadster top.

Thanks for all the advice. I did buy the car at $17,000, and am very happy with it. I look forward to attending some of your group events.
For the last 14 years I have been the Coordinator for the SoCal Prowler Club in Southern California,and look forward to being involved withe the Crossfire Club.
I currently have a 2001 Chrysler Prowler (which is for sale). After 16 years it's time for a change. If you know anyone interested, It's listed for $32,500.00 with over $18,000.00 in customizations.
