Default new to me roadster

i am trying to help my father who just bought a crossfire 2005 limited roadster. the used car dealer gave us a clean carfax but droped the price because the top did not function properly. only has 56000 miles and the top will not move or make any noise i have checked the switches in the trunk and above the passenger seat. the windows do not go down when the latch is opened. they will go down with the switches. the top switch has a fast blinking light. he took it do a dealer and they said he needed a $4800 body wiring harness and $1600 in other parts. this does not sound right to me. everything else in the car works. where do i start? should i take it to a different dealer in the aera? does anyone know a good dealer or shop to take it to in Dallas / Fort Worth.

thanks for any help

First, disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait at least 10 minutes for everything to reset.
If that doesn't help, then I'm afraid you will have to attempt the horrendous top troubleshooting section in the 2005_Crossfire_SRT6_Service_Manual.pdf that can be found in the documentation section of onehundred80's helpful links :

Index for Crossfire problems and How To's
https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum/...tml#post585345

Consume at least one complete six-pack before you begin ......

( NOTE: if all else fails, there is a section in there concerning the MANUAL top up/down procedures )

Make sure that the trunk divider is in proper position, with the 2 pins securely in the side holders, especially on the left side (driver) where there is a microswitch that controls the system. Check the owners manual on this procedure. If you have already done this, the switch itself might be defective. Just sayin .... Keep checking back, as others may chime in. In any event, let us know what happens.
Edit ... just re read your post and saw that you checked the switches.... my bad

First off, welcome and congrats on the "new" roadster!

Some helpful responses so far. Unfortunately, my dealer Preston Chrysler was closed. I've heard Huffines Chrysler is good but don't have first hand experience with them. What part of DFW do you live?

Thers is a sensor above the windsceen somewhere. It could possibly be this as this is one of the first sensors activated to make the windows go down. In the owners manual it mentions the fast blinking light with no audible beep means there is a fault with the top control module.

WOW . . . You've had this problem for more than 2-1/2 years and are just now posting in this thread again?? Welcome back!

I have a complete top framework (minus the hydraulic cylinders and the rubber moldings) so if there are sensors located in the framework I have them. Also I have a top control module so if you diagnose that as being your problem get with me for that part.

To better diagnose the problem we'll have to take this one step at a time and start over from the beginning . . .

When you reach up, turn the D ring and push up the front of the top . . . what happens? Do the windows go down (I know you said they didn't before but I want to start over). Does the light on the top up / down switch blink and does it beep or not beep? Get back with those answers and we'll continue from there. In the meantime . . . STAY AWAY FROM THE STEALERSHIPS! From your original post . . . "they said he needed a $4800 body wiring harness and $1600 in other parts." THAT IS ABSOLUTELY INSANE!

I hope we don't have to wait years to hear back from you . . .

Well, there are a lot of possibilities when it comes to the top. What have you done in the pass 2 1/2 years? Most common problem is the divider. If the previous owner damaged the switch or the divider, then there you go. Look at fuses, top latch, and the switch in the console to make sure all is good.
