Default Any 2006 convertible owners with rear window falling out problem?

I need to know if there have been or are any owners of the 2006 convertible who have the 3rd window getting lose on the convertible top. Has anyone had the luck to get it replaced for free by Chrysler like the 2005 models? If yes pls let me know. If no, please let me know.

Mine is falling out and the Chrysler dealer ship said its the same problem as the 2005 models.
But there is not 1 open case, I am the only one and therefor I probably won't get it replaced for free. Well, I don't have the answer yet, we will see. At the end I have been a Chrysler jeep customer since 2003!
The dealership said the top is $1365 and the labor is $1525, a total of more than $3000 with taxes. I don't know where to take this money to fix this problem. I don't understand why they made a difference between 2005 and 2006 models when it is obvious that , at least with my car, that they used the same glue! This is absolutely wrong!

Don't feel so bad. They don't even cover ALL of the 2005 roadsters. Only ones sold in certain states, even though the owners live elsewhere. Call Chrysler, it doesn't hurt to try.

The guy at Gibson auto interiors on the south side of Atlanta quoted me $2200.

He says they do top for most dealerships in the area. I think your dealer is quoting you $2200 to get the work done, then $800 for their cut. Gibson guy told me that almost no dealer does tops - they farm them out to guys who do it for a living.

Go shop around for an independent shop to do the job for you. They are kinda rare, there are only 2 or 3 in Atlanta - so I am told.

Thx, but I continue to feel bad. I treated this car with gloves because I love it.I bought it because made in Stuttgart, Germany by Mercedes.
I have still to pay it off, I have left $10000, paying $500 every month. 2 weeks ago I spent $600 on repairs and now this. I don't have the money for a $3000 top. That's a lot of money for me and I can't just pull it out somewhere.
I don't feel like playing around with glue. I think this is a very dangerous issue here and needs attention. If Chrysler does not help I will seek help in TV. We will see. Looking at the economy Chrysler can't afford this kind of pubblicity and the TV loves this stuff.

I wish I was still in Atlanta. Probably it wouldn't have happened there?? I live in Miami since 3 yrs. But thank you for your info. You can see how expensive they make it here... typical latin....

I have heard of it happening primarily in FL, AZ and TX - but I think someone in GA and or AL had it happen.

You can always try this: https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum/396080-post19.html

Kinda wonder what you had done. I have 68,000 on mine and have spent about $550 this month.

It was time: belt, steering stabilizer, coolant flush, wipers, front brakes and a real detail job. Not "repairs" but just normal stuff that comes with a car with such miles on it. First money I have spent on it.

What I have done? I had a clicking noise when turning left curves in lower gears and did not go to the dealership, cause they never do what they should , plus they are expensive! So I went to Tire Kingdom where they replaced the bearings, plus I needed brakes. That's all! Now how did you get all this stuff done for so little money? Where do you live ?

Update for my 2006 XF :
I guess I should feel blessed that Chrysler will replace my convertible top on my 2006 Model , still I have to copayment $500 what I really think I shouldn't because of the extended Warranty of the convertible top up to 100000 miles! Now the CEO of Chrysler emailed this to someone of the forum here and with common sense this means that everyone can get the Top replaced for free with no copay! And even I paid the $500 I will try to get it back from the CEO .

I have a 2006 model, about 66,000 miles, I live in S.C. - I bought it new and so far, have had no issues to speak of. Top seems fine.

In October of 2004 I was watching TV one afternoon when a
commercial for the Crossfire came on and I had to have one.

The next day or so I went to the dealership, picked-out one,
paid cash and drove off the lot.

It’s a 2005 and today, nearly 7.5 years latter, it only has 35,667
accumulated miles on the odometer, that is 4,755 miles per year.

Not less than a few of those miles were trips back to the dealer,
after the warrantee ran out, for repairs. It is at the dealer right now and
the estimated cost to repair the Top, for the third time, is $785.00 (+/-).
This will bring the cost of repairs to, to date, $6,316.00.

That comes to .177 cents per mile for repairs.

Sitedata - That is a lot of repairs. Other than the top for the third time, what else have they repaired?

Seems awfully expensive for such low miles. I, too, am interested in what was wrong with your car.

EDIT: 98,xxx miles on mine, window seems fine so far...though I don't know if the previous owner handles the TSB.

My 2006 Roadster is ok, for now! 12,500 miles, garaged nearly all the time. Bought used in 2008 with 595 miles on it. I check nearly everyday.

Thinking of putting top half down and going around the interior edge of the rear glass with some 3 M cement or Gorilla glue, or something to try and help it not fail.

Careful, You might void the warranty doing that gorilla glue thingy.

Yes! My son's just fell out this week. 2006 with 12,400 miles! We are in NC. Took it to the delearship today and they said that we would have to replace the whole top because they could not re-glue the window. Parts department states the cost of the top at $1,571 after I got the price for the top I didn't even consider getting a quote for the labor! He is devasted to say the least; his grandfather past away in Feb and left him this car and it has cost him nothing but money so far and he isn't even old enough to drive it yet!!! So far we have spent $1,300 for new tires, approximately $150 - $300 to fix the TPS system (still waiting on the exact quote from the delearship) and now the top! Has anyone been sucessful in getting the top replace by Chrysler??

yes it took me two monthes of sticking to my guns to get them to replace my top on a 2007 . It cost me $200.00 goodwill payment but it was well worth it . if you keep fighting with all the info you can get they will give in to you . EVERYONE must contact NTSB and file a complaint about the top . Mine unglued at 70mph and i'm lucky it did not detach from the car or someone would of been killed.I fought my way to a superviser before they gave in. I have all complaints from the NTSB and there is another 2006 that filed a report. So you must and everyone else must this way in numbers we will win this problem......
