Default Replacing battery

I noticed the last time we started or '05 XF Roadster the spoiler came up & didn't go down. I did some checking on the battery to find: 1). a badly corroded terminal; & (2). this was the original battery installed at manufacture.

It looks like it's time for a new battery! After installing a new battery, must I do anything else? It seems I remember reading something about turning the wheels full left, full right & then to neutral position w/the first start. I just can't find anything on this site regarding this.

Can anyone tell me? Or did I dream this?

George

Only if the ABS light comes on, and it never has in my car.

Also, you will probably loose the clock display in the radio and I think the clock in the dash will goof up. Other than that, no problem.

Be sure to keep the vent tube and positive terminal cover from your orig Varta battery and transfer them to the replacement.

I replaced the battery in my 2005 Roadster last summer with an Interstate MTP-48/H6. Other than the clock and radio channels everything worked perfect. Perhaps you where thinking of the pwr steering pump or fluid with the left right thing. With all the electronics in these babies, the battery is critical. Rose

No, Pizza was correct. The light on the dash may come on (mine did) but if you turn the wheel full left, then full right and then to center it goes off.

I like these better. Made by Johnson Controls, the same mfg. for the OEM Vartas!

AutoCraft Gold AGM Battery, Group Size H6, 760 CCA H6-AGM: Choose the best Battery at Advance Auto Parts

I run that battery in just about everything but the crossfire. I went with an interstate H6. But I have had pretty good luck with the autocraft, and Advance Auto have been really good on warranty as well. I wouldn't be afraid to use them. Just didn't for whatever reason. Interstate delivers to our company garage and I bought one off the truck. Right place right time right price....lol

Totally agree with ya Doc. I run the non-AGM Autocraft Golds in both of our Xfires with absolutely no complaints. Got them both with discounts for under $100 each.

We are talking about essentially the same battery: "Sam’s Club Energizer® and OPTIMA® batteries are supplied by Johnson Controls..."

What is the cost of the battery at Sam's? I'm not a member, but a friend is, and they don't tell me what the price is online
Thanks.

Wow. And only $103. Could have saved another $50.

This one ? AutoCraft Gold AGM Battery, Group Size H6, 760 CCA - apparently my Jeep and the Crossfire use the same battery.

That Sam's club page is only finding Marine Duracell AGMs, my store has smaller ones, will check next time I go there.

Duracell shows SLI48AGM Duracell Procell Platinum AGM Battery H6 650CCA

Any more the only batteries I buy are AGMs. Fortunately they are getting more common but are more expensive than wet cell batteries.

This is the battery I just replaced. This couldn't be the original battery, since my car is 9 years old, but was it an exact OEM replacement?

I doubt that the original came with handles.

Don't know about MOPAR but Delco replacements always had an odd designator (e.g. R-59) because they were shipped dry.

Repopers did not know that and some owners got mad when I told them their very expensive repo had the wrong part number for an assembly line battery.

Is one of the reasons I quit judging.

Sounds like a case where the messenger was being shot.
The reason I would like to know if this is an OEM exact replacement is because if it is, I'll keep it for future "judging." Otherwise, I'll sell it back to the store for $20.
