Stalled
Stalled
I have a 2005 Roadster base model. Today I was returning from the grocery store and the car stalled in front of my house. I'm unable to restart it. Anyone know what might be the issue? First problem I've had since I purchased it. I've only put 6,000 miles on it and it currently has 46,000 on the odometer.

Re: Stalled
Well, Ala_xfire TRIED to help you....
If the car won't turn over, then the starter is NOT working. The starter turns the car over to get it started.
I have heard people say "it wont turn over" when they REALLY mean, "it turns over, but won't start."
I have NO IDEA what you are experiencing after that last post.
Is the engine turning over when you turn the key or not?
Please know that, no matter which it is - both of these complaint are VERY common and not usually all that hard to expensive to fix.
We just need a clear indication from you as to what is happening.

Re: Stalled
Pizzaguy,
I do appreciate you helping me so let's make sure we are on the same page. The engine rolls when I attempt to start it. After I removed the RCM and checked the solder, it looked brand new. I reinstalled the RCM without doing anything to it and the car started up fine. I read some issues about the crankshaft position sensor. I'm not sure by removing the RCM and then reinstalling it shows what the issue might be.

Re: Stalled
The fact that molesting the RCM seemed to make the car start makes me wonder (as josh said) about the connectors and solder on the RCM. It is not PROOF, but it is a possibility.
The Crank Sensor is such a common problem, I'd order one NOW. Get a BOSCH part, not some damn cheapy. The part number is mentioned in a lot of threads here.
I even carry a CPS in the trunk just because they are notorious for failing.
Back to the RCM. If the fuel relay or it's feed fails, the pump fails and the car won't run. If the engine control relay output fails, the car won't crank at all. There are just so many possibilities. REALLY LOOK OVER the joints on the RCM (again, many posts here with pictures about this.)

OP if you need a bosch CPS, let me know.

Re: Stalled
I thought mine was bad so I ordered two, one to go on the engine and one to go in the trunk. Come to find out it was a build related problem and now I have an extra lol.
OP if you need a bosch CPS, let me know.
Agreed, mine looked fine but I went over it anyway. Now all of the joints are twice the height they used to be lol.

Re: Stalled
Listen to Sparkie first, if that doesn't do it (or to order one just in case like I did)
German Auto Supply:
https://www.germanautosupply.com/sto...sensor-82.html
Bosch #: 0 261 210 170
MB OE #: 003 153 27 28
Their price hasn't changed since I got mine in 2011.
