Default Trunk (Boot) lid

I have just bought a 2004 Roadster and find it a fantastic car, however there is one item that I cannot find out what it does.

Inside of the boot (yes - the trunk to you Septics) there is a yellow handle with a cable attached.

Does anyone know what it does please?

Yes, it lets you release the lid from the inside if you get car-jacked and stuffed in the boot.
( It is a mandated safety feature, even though on this particular car it is stupid. )

Emergency trunk release. I maintain that if you're trapped in the trunk of a crossfire the fact that you've obviously been hacked into pieces is of more immediate concern than getting the lid open...

Don't let these rebel colonials bs you. This is Chrysler's answer to the passenger seat ejector handle on Bond's Aston Martin.

7300 in 3 years?

You, sir, need a life.

Wait-7600 in 7 years. I guess I need a life too.

And for a longer period of time!

How do you open the trunk within the cabin of the crossfire. My dealer could not get it open except with the remote ?

There is no trunk release button in the cabin, and there is no trunk open button on the remote. If you use the remote to unlock the Crossfire you can open the trunk with the latch under the trunk lid.
