Default Crossfire Rear Window falling out for a second time.

Hey my fellow crossfire friends!

I have a 2005 Crossfire Limited Roadster. I had it fall out in 2009 and originally paid out of pocket back then, however a few years after I got a recall notice and got my money back for my top. Can I get it fixed again under the warranty? From my understanding it's good until 2015 and under 100,000 miles. I just hit 60k on my car. The first time I went to get my top replaced it took 8 months to even get the part in to fix my car.

Has anyone else had this happen twice to them? I know I live in Florida so maybe that's why it's happened to me twice. With that being said, can I get a rental car until my top is fixed? The first time I just duct taped it together while waiting for the top to get in for a whole 8 months and I really don't want to do that again. Any help or guidance would be appreciated.

My letter said 10 years or 100k miles. Sounds like Chrysler replaces it again to me.

Not good news that replacements will fail. Is your CF exposed to anything that may contribute to the early failure? Hot sun all day? 130 mph with top up windows down?
150mph winds?

My 2 vinyl Miata tops develope holes in three years. I don't relish have to replace the CF top regularly.

I've never gone over 110 MPG. I never been in 150 mph winds down in my part of Florida. The only thing I can think of is the year round heat of being in Florida.

I would think a warranty is a warranty. Get it replaced again.
I ordered my replacement top from the local dealer, it came in 4 days later.
Yes, the replacement tops are the same as the OEM tops, nothing has been done to improve the window bonding.
I replaced mine myself with the help of a friend, took about 4 hours.
If I did it again, I think I could get it done in half that time.

Is a rental car covered for when I put my car into the shop to get it fixed under the x31 warranty? The first time I had it done I duct taped it for 8 months until the top came in and hated it.

I got a used car loaner right now from the dealer getting the top replaced with 40,725 miles on it. I am the second owner. Took a couple weeks to get in and 3 days to install. The dealer is sending it out to have it replaced. Dropped it off Friday and picking it up next Friday. Labor day fell just wrong for me.

Hi Mel
Thank you for all the info. My glass is falling out, towels are in there for now till it rains switch out for more. Love my car dearly but it's my only one. Just recently coughed up 4000+ on the engine...I'll be looking for a new car soon..8 years of fun and am done.

110?! The highest I've gotten was 28 MPG

Definitely get it replaced if it's still under warranty. Odd though, mine came from Texas and I still have the original top and rear window.

Hi Indelibility
I was too aggrivated so I taped it up till I figure the cost. I've rarely gone over 80mph back and forth to work. Just a little over 50k miles..everything is original bought in Denver. Now I know the issues of having a convertible. It's been really hot in MD lately...now it's raining...it's covered up. Should I trade is the question.

If it is payed for I would keep it for a Sunday car. I have a work truck, a HHR for gas mileage and a Sunday car. I do not buy new or trade in anymore, It is easier to buy out right. So many used cars you need to buy a VIN checker application before you buy your next car. Some have went thru auction to get rid of a bad title, Cars are wrecked. flood damage. and just abusied that is why I do VIN check before I buy.

If the cost outweighs the car, then it may be time for another vehicle.

I guess I'm the only who has this happened twice? The first time was in 2009. So about 5 years later after I had it replaced it fell out again.

Hey you're right it is paid for and the cost of repair will outweigh the cost of the car. so I'll be looking into a second vehicle and checking the VIN number. thanks for that advice. It'll give me time to get it repaired. Appreciate the advice...

What was the $4K engine repair? How many miles on the odometer?
