Default Light on on the top sw and spoiler won't wk

Has anyone had the light illuminated on the top up/down switch stay on? It will not allow the top to be put down either. It just beeps when pushed.

Secondly the rear spoiler won't work with the switch but will work at speed when driving.

I am suspecting the trunk latch switch since that safety switch would prevent both wing and top from activating if the trunk were open. Thoughts?

Well, often the light staying on means that the control module doesn't think the top sensors are indicating a fully open or fully closed top. I had this once, but cleared it by cycling the top up and down.

I do agree with your assesment, but one thing: Try putting the top down manually and THEN see if it will go up. This may clear any sensor confusion.

Other than that, your idea might be it.

Yours worked with the light on? Or you cycled it manually then the light cleared? This one won't budge.

Ever hear of the POWER TOP CONTROL MODULE INITIALIZATION procedure? 4. Turn the Ignition Switch OFF and then ON 5 times with a 10 second pause between each ignition cycle. Listed in the manual to be done when a new module is put into service. Could this also "reset" a whacky PTCM?

Of course the owner (not on here yet) did not get the multipurpose tool so when he gets time away from his ice cream/burger shop he will bring it over to test a few things.

Bump.....

We replaced the battery and the spoiler weirdness went away.

We manually put the top down and fired the car up. The light on the power top switch went out. We tried to power it up, heard the relay click and the pump fire for an instant then the light was back on. Took the rear panel off and we think the hydraulic fluid is low unless the color of it matched the color of the plastic container so well it barely shows. Getting dark out and tough to see.

We are going to find some fluid and make sure it is full.

What you are describing is what's happening to me know! I can't open the trunk where my multipurpose tool is!! Any ideas on how to get the trunk open?

A Crossfire friend nearby? A 10mm ground down?

Use a 10mm open end wrench to release the tonneau cover, raise and have someone support it.
Raise the top manually, then go in and move the divider panel, you should then be able to reach and pull the manual trunk release.

If that don't release the trunk, then the electric lock thingey ( which you should have already removed ) is engaged, good luck with that.

Thanks for the advise guys. Going to Lowe's for a 10mm. And NO I didn't remove the electric lick thingy so I'm praying that trunk release opens it.

Get a long reach one and you will have to grind it thin.

UPDATE

He finally found some time to break away from his ice cream shop.... We filled the hydraulic fluid reservoir followed by a manual put the top down. The light was off and we had several successful top up/down cycles.

Odd thing is we cannot find a trace of fluid leak.... anywhere........ yet.
