Default Problem with the small wings on metal booth

I have a 2006 Crossfire convertible. The top works fine. The problem is when I want the top to go down, everything works fine except the left and right small wings on the metal booth. They will NOT automatically go to the up position so the booth can close properly. I can manually left them up to close my booth. Now, when I push the button to left my top both small wings automatically fold to the down position so my top can go up correctly. I have tried special lube on the cables. Also, when I manually left they , like feel some tension in the cable.
Any suggestion, I sure appreciate your help. Don

You already posted this problem yesterday under another title and you received a response with the remedy for your problem. Why are you now posting it again??

I Went to the locate bike shop, bought the special lube. Last night I sprayed and worked for 45 minutes . Putting top up and down with no success. Maybe I have to repeat this process for several days.
That is why I did a repost to see my if there was anything else I could do.
Thanks for all help.

It's easier for us to help if all replies are in one thread and makes things smoother for you. If you don't check both from now on you won't know all what was said.

Hello Don, Those small wings are called tonneau side flaps and your problem is with the tonneau side flap cable(s). Follow the routing of the cables and right near where the cable(s) connect to the tonneau side flap(s) there is a guide pulley. See if the cable(s) might possibly have come off their pulley . . . not likely because the pulley has a little cover (removable) that is supposed to keep the cable from coming off the pulley but check that anyway). If the cables are routed correctly then the inner cables ares seizing up. Lubing should fix the problem unless the inner cable has become frayed. If lubing the cables doesn't help (make sure you're getting plenty of lube inside the cable between the inner and outer cable and follow the cable to up near the hydraulic cylinder to lube BOTH ends of the cable), your only option would be to replace the cables. The part number for the cable(s) is:

05140962AA

You'll find some additional information in this thread . . .

https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...tml#post676188

The usual problem with the cable(s) is that one of the little barrel ends breaks off . . .

Good luck getting it fixed and please let us know what you did and how you fixed it.

This car belongs to my ex wife, (2006 convertible with only 15,000 miles ) I don't know how it happen. I did lube the cable at the top. I did not know or think to see the bottom of the cable. Will check it soon. The tonneau's will tuke down by themselves, but will not extend out automatic. We must gently pull up for them to extend. When I pull up I can feel a little stiffness on the cable.
Hopefully I can lube the cable that the bottom and again at the top and maybe they will start working again.
Thanks for all your help.
Don

I am still working on the problem. I am going to try and lube both cables at top and bottom. If that fails, I will try to locate 2 new cables.
Thanks for all your help.

Thanks, I went to the local bicycle shop and got some good spray lube. I am going to work on the cables at top and in the convertible top (both ends ) tomorrow, my day off.
Thanks for your help.

I did lube both cables (top and bottom ) again. Sorry, to say it did not solve the problem. When I go to put the top down, all works except the flaps only go 1/2 ways down then stops. They should tuck down and under to let the rear bow/window close down and latch.
When I put the top up , the flaps do work fine.
Thanks for all your help.

I don't really know if it is possible or not, but is there any way to partially disassemble the flaps and wind in another round of spring tension ?

Well, after several attempt to lube my two cables ( did not work )
I locate a company and bought two new cables for the tonneau wings.
Had them installed and my top work fine now. Just in time for the fall weather in Texas.
I what to thank everyone on the forum for there input and help.
Dcwhite67

I located the tonneau wing cables # 5140962AA @ JeepsAreUs. 877-533-7787 cost $93.00 each total for two with shipping $200.00
They came in a Mopar/Chrysler sealed package. (Factory original )
Again , I want to Thank ala_xfire and Red Dog and everyone else that help me thru this repair process.
These are very sweet little rides but very expensive parts. Just like M/B a ripoff!!!!!

AND . . . what did you find when you removed the old cables? Could you tell by moving the inner cable in and out by hand that the cable was binding up? Did you keep the old cables? If so I'd like to have them and I will gladly pay shipping cost.
