Now that I know my supercharger isn't working, I am a lot less motivated to pull up next to someone and try to race them. But I couldn't help myself, and it was a ricer, so I wasn't too worried.

He looked like he wanted to play, so we both drove around until we found a nice open stretch, wasn't as long as we liked, but it was as good as we could find. We both gunned it, and he started off a little better, but it didn't take long before I flew by him. He caught up to me a few lights later and said through the window, "is that thing supercharged" I said, "yeah, but I don't think it's working, pump's out, I'll see you after I fix it" (of course I had a big grin when I said that) His reply was, "I'm definitely not racing you after that, it's fast as **** already"

I am (5% certain the supercharger is out now. Definitely didn't have the pickup it should. But I've already ordered a replacement pump, and hopefully I'll ahve it fixed before the weekend. I'm excited for it, because I have a feeling it wasn't working from the time I got the car.

On a side note, his car was a chevy impala, riced out. I think he did have some engine mods in it, because it was pretty darn fast for an impala. It wasn't a terribly obnoxious car, spoiler could have been toned down, as could the exhaust pipe, but it wasn't as bad as some of the cars you see.

you know when your S/C is out. Your car goes into limp mode, kinda like when your TC kicks on. Mine would work for a short sprint but temps would rise and it would shut off. It is like driving your car then getting into a Sentra and putting your foot through the floor, its just not there.

If you want to find out for sure, then pull your fuse.

you wouldn't have beat an Impala unless the SC was working...sry, but a 4 banger will beat us without the SC...

Really, they are that fast? It didn't have the labels, but I assumed it was an impala. It had the 4 circular taillights.

I had just looked at the specs last night to see, I think it was right around 200hp for the bigger one. Are they just lightweights?

When my s/c was cutting out intermittently, it was a very noticeable power loss. The car accelerated worse than my n/a roadster. The feeling was like the old days when a carburetor would flood and the car would half stall and hesitate.

if you are going to run a s/c car then you really need to be a bit more discriminating as to the cars you run!! pick and choose the better cars, you own a monster. and if the car is limping along dont beat it you arent doing yourself any favors

You worry more about getting your car up you driveway slope than whether or not you will win a race. You have got to quit saying it doesn't work. Plus it has been so long that it as you say hasn't worked, why haven't you done something about it by now?

when my pump went out, i had trouble getting it over 70 mph, it literally wouldnt do it. when i thought it was going out i raced my friends hyundai elantra and we were right next to eachother. thats how slow the srt is without its s/c. i dont think your pump is out. you either overestimated its speed or there is another issue with the car. its one of those two though.

There is a logical explanation. Steven, when you were here, we ran them and it was working then, so you should have some SOTP comparison. You have probably just gotten used to the power plus some heat soak issues and think it is not running like it used to. This happen to me and caused me to install a pulley and redo my intake configuration. Just change out your pump and it will be piece of mind. then work on getting yourself a CAI of some sort. Is it really that bad, hard to get it over 70?

See I'm thinking without the SC, it would be about equal to a little less powerful than the N/A. If that's so, then it's possible that's where it is.

Now if it really is as bad as you are saying, without exaggeration, hard to get to the speed limit on the interstate, then it is definitely working, because it still has some power.

The whole reason I got to thinking this is a couple of weeks ago I was driving down the road with maxcichon, me in the srt6 and him in his roadster, he got a head start but I was having a hard time catching up, me with my foot to the floor, and him however fast he was going. His car has some work done to it, so it's faster than a stock N/A, but the fact that my foot was on the floor and I was slowly catching up to him worried me. I figured I would be able to catch up a lot faster with the extra HP the SC adds.

That may be it as well. Just gotten used to the power. I will be swapping out my pump soon, so I won't have to worry about it anymore, and there won't be any question.

I guess it's probably also time to get a CAI and new pulley.

No one is exaggerating about the lack of power. Don't think that when the supercharger cuts out the HP reverts back to that of a standard Crossfire - it doesn't. The HP is simply not there. You will have problems just trying to maintain speed, accelerating will be forlorn wish.

When working properly the supercharger will kick in a half second or so after mashing the gas pedal and the car will surge forward and keep pulling hard. For a real thrill mash the pedal until you activate the kickdown switch under it. The point here is that when the supercharger works, it works tremendously; and when dead, well, Montana Crossfire is wrong - you can't outrun a person pushing a bicycle.

Does your car seem to have power when first driven in the cool of the morning? When driving does it lurch right before you lose power? These are the classic symptoms of a failing pump. What you have experienced with your car may very well be pump related but your symptoms don't seem as extreme as what others have had. At any rate change your pump since you are going to have to do so anyway. Then drive and see what your car does. If you are still having problems then we'll have to consider another cause. But eliminate the pump variable first.

Oh, and which pump did you settle for?

Just want to agree with the others. No SC. NO power.
You wouldn't be guessing that it was out. You would know without a doubt.

Another test to try.
Unplug the connector to the SC clutch. Now the SC will NOT engage.
If there is no difference, then yes, your SC is not working. Does the make sense?

Brent, I went with the Ford pump off ebay. Price was right.

Tighted, that makes sense. Where is the connector I need to unplug?

Looking at the SC pulley ithe connector will be to the left.
It's on the top left of this picture.

Anyone else with an SRT might want to try this to see what it feels like to own a NA powered Crossfire!

That's quite interesting. The cover should do the job well. I also believe that no SC. nO power.

I'm now experiencing intermittently pump faillure. It's stressful just trying to pick up speed to merge onto interstates. A N/A Crossfire is much more powerful than a non working supercharged SRT-6.. Squirrel Crusher

I'm pretty sure I got beat by a Prius when my pump went out and S/C wasn't working.

A Eurocharged H/E and Johnson CM30 later I was good as new, and cooler than ever.
