Default Supercharger Pulley Bearing Replacement

I have tried searching but I have not been able to find this specific issue in a thread. I have the 2nd generation Code 3 pulley. After working on the car this weekend I noticed that the bearings are going out in the pulley. Do I have to buy bearings for this pulley? Not sure if the bearings are different from the stock vs. aftermarket, etc.

Thanks for your input.

I don't know the answer to the question of the bearing size but if you take the pulley to a NAPA store they can measure it and get you a replacement bearing.

Below is a link to a bearing that fits the stock pulley for comparison's sake.

What size is the pulley?
Some bearings are listed here.
The bearing sizes are listed here, is it one of them? If so let me know and I will add it to the list.

I appreciate the responses guys. Based on your feedback I began researching further and found the following thread which provides good information and in some cases may help us remember this conversation. If everything remains true today, since this thread is from 6 years ago, the NSK - Part# 32BD45DU for the stock bearing replacement will work with the Code 3. Thoughts?

Did you ever replace it? If so how was the job? I believe it has to be pressed out and the new one pressed in. I looked at the service manual and there is nothing on how to replace it. I only see information on the idler pulleys and tensioner.

I have not had the time as of yet to complete this. I did purchase a new bearing though. Hopefully in the next two weeks I will knock it out.

How to replace supercharger bearing - MBWorld.org Forums

Found this simple how-to with no pictures. I need to make a how-to when I do mine since there isn't any. Seems like most of the how-to's have broken picture links. Not sure why people delete pictures to a how-to they make. I ordered and received: NSK supercharger bearing, MB smooth idler pulley and grooved idler pulley.

I will definatley have a shop press the old bearing out and press the new one in. Don't want to damage anything.

Take your pulley and your new bearing to your local NAPA Auto Parts Store and they should be able to R & R the bearing for you. That's the easiest way to get it done.

Some photos from posts on the forum that are several years old get their photos deleted because the original poster might no longer be a Crossfire owner and just cleaned out their personal files. If / when they remove the photo from their photo hosting site, it deletes the photo display from the forum.

Good luck . . .

It is always a wise thing to have a spare bearing for this SC. Better yet is a spare pulley with a new bearing in it already.

who ever presses in the new bearing be sure they press on the outer race,,, the inter race is .0002 higher than the outer and if you press with a flat push bar/plate your bearing will fail soooooner than one installed correctly jim

I changed mine by putting the bearing in the freezer for a few hours and the pulley in the oven for a few minutes and the bearing dropped right in. Just a few lite taps to seat it. A video is out there somewhere. Just a reminder DO NOT BUY THE BEARINGS FROM E-BAY SELLER AMG-FIFTY FIVE.

Great info, thank you! I take it there is a special attachment on a press to do so?

Is it ideal to run the belt underneath for more belt wrap with the smoother pulley?
