Default complete rear diff.

Hi Guys and Gals, Is it still possible to get a new diff for the SRT6 in the US. Here in Australia they want ridiculous amounts which equates to basically scrapping the whole car. Im over trying to get mine repaired as it has been close to 5 months in the shop on 3 occasions. They cant seem to get it right it either leaks oil and still makes a whining noise anything over 55mph. thoughts please as it is still under warranty.

I put a used one in mine I got off a forum member when I broke mine.
There are guys here that have put the one from the standard crossfire in. The only difference is the ratio not the strength of it.
You will need to have the computer programmed to it works. There is info on it here. Try searching.

With the low gear with my 6sp, I'd prefer a 3.07 in mine. Getting the car programmed to the right ratio would be my issue.

Also consider sending your diff to Wavetrac to have their LSD installed. If your case is good, could be a remedy.

If your car is a NA 6 spd. I have been told you do not need to reprogram, only for automatics.

Thank you gents fro your replies, at the moment the car dealer has it back and under law he has to fi it or...dare i say give me my money back( which i dont want as the SRT6 in Aust is like rocking horse etc.) In aust they want 15800 for a new diff which is madness. I may well end up buying a diff from the US and getting a wavetrac put in as you guys seem to actually know what you are doing. I have been given a Kia cerato to run around in for now and it goes to redline a lot lol. Nothing like the crossy. there is another in melb (3400 kms away for 25K aust ) but its black, may end up flying ove rand getting that one instead but i really like the SSB. Are new diffs still available in the US?

I would assume something needs done for the speedo to work right, or does run off of something other than trans/driveshaft RPM like ABS sensors? Never know with the Germans, like the VWs running it off the front wheel bearing caps.

I am looking for a spare diff myself. So if I run across one, I will let you know. I can put together the whole set up if you like...wavetrac, diff and all just like Jim stated. Would just need to find out the cost of shipping something that heavy that far...

Off topic but if you have a traction issue get a R compound tire and you will no longer have a traction issue! Something like TOYO PROXES R888's or the venerable Mickey Thompson drag radial, or the Nitto NT-01 or NT-05's. These tires dig and GO! I found my TOYO PROXES difficult to spin no matter how hard I tried. Just a thought. Mark

I have a set of internals removed when I had my wavetrak installed - but you probably need the ring and pinion - where the noise woudl be eminating from ....???.....which are obviously back in my car...although whilst you are looking - a spare ring and pinion would be handy...several reports of failures when you mmod up.

not really, I ran the 307 for 2 years (before the tcu mod came along) then ran a 327 for the next 3 years without a failure.
when i did brake a axle it was because i left the traction control on during a burn out,and the gears inside the diff were welded. if you get noise,(a howl ) from your rear it is not set up correctly,, Mercedes use of the snap rings as spacers, and it is one of the worse ways to set up a rear.
all wave trac's are made the same ,yet none of the center sections of our diffs. are the same, so when you build your diff. with a wave-trac you must set the ring to the pinion. or you will get noise, ware. and failure. I have had to cut down snap rings on two of the three diff's i have built. I have 2 sets of snap rings now as spares.
HOW did I do it ?, I used a fly wheel grinding machine and mic then every two turns. jim
