Default 6500 RPM, TCU tune?

Hi all, I need your advise,

My tuner is offering me a TCU tune, fully manual mode for the gearbox and to turn the engine rpm up to 6500. Has any of you tried such tune and be kind to share your experience and recommendations about that. I'm running a 60mm pulley, so the supercharger rpm should be about 16790 at 6500 rpm

I believe you need the ECU tune to match the TCU tune for redline management but others may know more.

Others have run these to 17,265 (65/181mm = stacked) and 6,200RPM - so your 16,790 is far from unknown territory. However.....it would all depend on how often you plan to drive it that hard. If you want to autocross - then maybe more advice from long term experienced pioneers would be recommended.

I do know SC efficiencies are already dropping above the 13,000rpm (Stock) so you will be continually testing the limits of IAT's and additional cooling is preferred to control timing issues. But you've probably already got that covered.

Also note - when you refer to 16,790rpm - keep in mind that that is the directly driven uncoated 5 lobe rotor inside the SC. There is actually a gear box in the front face that transfers the drive to the meshed 3 lobe rotor (right hand side looking from the cockpit) - that gearing would convert your 16,790 to 27,983rpm on the 3 lobe teflon coated rotor.

thank bob for your opinion. I dont want to overheat my sc and iats, but in my country at about 400 meters above the sea, I'm only making 17.5psi of boost with sc turning 16000, so I want to try some more boost, I'll go step by step with my sc rpms and try several sized pulleys I guess. my fuel system is also completely stock, it will be interesting what I get from it.

the tcu tune didn't work properly, maybe as you said, it didnt match my ecu tune, I'll try to grow the ecu rpms for the tcu to make proper shifts and not hit the limiter

If everything was new - @6200rpm for a 60/155 combo - you should be running about 18psi at 400m
Your fuel pump is maxed out at about 160Lpm (12.0AFR) and your stock injectors should be running about 93% duty cycle.

I guess in winter, I'll be able to make 18 psi or even a bit more, now we are getting about 25 celsius or more. some guys are making more boost an I was trying to find a problem in my system, but everything seems to be OK. but for more boost with stacked pulleys, I guess I'll need a bigger pump and new tune.

I measure with obd2, Idont have a boost gauge. in cold weather at about 5 degrees celsius I got about 20 psi, but dont have traction any more )) I'm working on stacked pulleys now, 180/65mm and maybe than I'll try the manual tcu tune also
