F2 fuse blows
F2 fuse blows
my sc is not coming online . did some checking and found f2 fuse blown . replaced fuse , blew again .
changed out rcm , blew #2 fuse on new rcm . did some research and says f2 fuse controls sc and o2 sensors .
so replaced f2 fuse and disconnected sc . drove the car a few miles VERY easily 1/4 throttle max . checked fuse , good . drove the car again around the block this time pedal all the way to the floor , sc still unhooked. fuse blew .
so it doesn't appear to be sc , drive the car easy and no problems , jump on it fuse blows .
ideas ?
transmission ?

Re: F2 fuse blows
From watching this video, the air pump makes a noise when you start your car as it sends warm air to the catalytic converter. Assuming it's seized you wouldn't hear the noise at startup. Maybe you can feel the pump working too. Looks like disconnecting the wire harness isn't an easy thing if it's similar to this MB SLK55 AMG

I cannot delete the links to the images below. They are FUBAR.

1. there is no separate relay, the air pump relay is in the RCM.
2. The air pump itself is mounted on the driver's side fender well, really easy to get to'
( on the NA models, the pump IS mounted on front of the engine, but there is only one bolt to remove and it comes right out. )

2 BIG differences on the SRT6 from this video :

Re: F2 fuse blows
OK, here's an old mechanics trick : get a spare H7 headlight bulb and wire it across the fuse socket.
That way when the light gets real bright, you know you are in the "blow the fuse" condition.
( if you connect it with long enough wires, you can even have it on the cowl with the hood shut so you can drive )
Maybe you can determine what's happening at that time.....
Caveat : the light will not "blow", so there is potential for damage using this method, try at your own risk !

Re: F2 fuse blows
UPDATE: first thanks to chuk and woody for their help . Also thanks to Rob for the multiple phone calls , this guy goes far and above great customer service .
the f2 fuse is jumped on the pcb inside the rcm . it then exits on 2 different wires , front plug wire 3 and 5 . unfortunately the wiring diagram form the factory has the color on wire 3 incorrect . it is not red/dark green it is red/ blue . (found multiple color codes that are incorrect) anyway disconnected wire 3 from the rcm plug , put in a new fuse and ran it . SUPERCHRGER WORKS ! i'm so happy . so now it is narrowed down to 4 things on wire 3 according to schematic .
evap purge solenoid , o2 sensor downstream 1&2 , charcoal canister shutoff valve.
so this weekend well disconnect all 4 and try to isolate the culprit .
But between now and then going to be enjoying that supercharger a lot.

Re: F2 fuse blows
finally had time to get the car on my lift and work on it . it appears the problem is with the charcoal canister shutoff valve . disconnected it , hooked wire three back up and no more blown fuse .
so I well order a new one and swap it out . hope this info helps someone down the road .
