Default Possible water in engine

So the other day i was driving my srt6 after a heavy rainfall. The roads weren't bad but when i turned into a shopping center i ran through a deep puddle and water went over my hood. The car didn't die, it was just bogging for a couple minutes after. I have the NW intake from a slk32 so the filters are further back in the engine bay rather then in the grill. I checked the oil dipstick and everything looked good. Today i started it and let it run for a couple of minutes and i heard a weird knocking noise that scared me. I took the air filters off and they were a little damp. I'm wondering what the chances are that i bent a rod or something. Is my best bet getting it towed to a mechanic to take the spark plugs and and hopefully shoot any remaining water out? Sorry for the long post.

I would not believe water went thru the filter enough to do anything. I have done water injection and never could get enough water to do anything.'

You would need to do a hydrostatic lock to bend a rod and the head and gasket would fail first.

Cover the tail pipe and see if you have a miss- paper sheet and flutter. Woody

Thanks for the reply man, I'll try covering the tailpipe tomorrow to see what it does. Last time i take this car out if its been raining heavily.
I would be devastated if i screwed the car up, i love my srt6.

Anything going in the engine has to go thru the S/C and will be atomized first. The S/C would pop the belt before it admitted much liquid, this has been discussed before, not gonna happen. Woody rest easier.

Thanks bud. I dried my filters out and I'm going to reinstall them today.

If you want to put a end to future concerns of possible hydrolock, then purchase OuterWears prefilters slip over covers for your filters. They hardly take away any HP on the dyno. Many sizes avaliable. Never worry driving thru storms and puddles again. I always use them for peace of mind. Rob at NeedsWings can hook you up with these. Squirrel Crusher
