Default Which MB Engine Cover?

Considering an MB engine cover and I really like the look of these two.
Will the stock intake tubes fit?

What cover exactly would I be looking for (assuming I could convince the
co-owner (wife) to go along - she's a Chrysler purist)?

Hi, I am looking at doing the same and I really like the engine cover with the silver metal /stainless steel / alloy intake pipes, does anyone know who does these?

The stainless steel overlays used to be on eBay all the time. I don't recall seeing them for long time now.

The cover that looks like this but is plug-n-play would come from an SLK.

The covers in the pics look like the 2 piece version. You will need the airbox, and front engine cover(for a v6). The same airbox is used on the v6 and v8 with different engine covers on the front.

I think this is the airbox you will need: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2003-Mercedes-Benz-C240-Airbox-Cleaner-Assembly-112-090-15-01-OEM-/161677168204?hash=item25a4b5ce4c&vxp=mtr
Here is the v6 engine cover that took me a while to find for my car: http://www.ebay.com/itm/01-04-Mercedes-C320-engine-cover-nose-piece-1120100467-NL0028-/261693738639?hash=item3cee298e8f&vxp=mtr
Others will chime in for a perfect fit with the correct part number.

This is partly true, the front nose piece you give is correct, the main housing is the wrong part I believe. It will fit but is about 1/2" too high and rubs on the hood liner and the paint is rubbed of the engine nose piece cover. There actually is zero clearance, the actual part does have clearance.
The numbers are in my PDF mentioned in the second post here.
The SLK 320 unit you mention is plug and play as you say but there is no benefit in using it. The parts mentioned in my PDF are the parts used to increase the airflow to the engine and more power. They are plug and play but will need the larger air filters, the OEM air tubes do fit but they will only fit tightly inside the engine cover holes. My PDF mentions the larger air tubes required to fit on the outside of the engine cover bore holes.

I had three of the wrong engine covers, they all fitted, they all rubbed and they are all in the local dump. LOL

Here is another post that mentions and shows the correct part.
A few years back this swap was discussed a thousand times, I found all the parts, fitted them and then swapped the car for an SRT.

If I recall correctly there is another engine cover that looks the same it ends with the numbers 95, it too is wrong.

Remember they look the same but some rub and look bad after a while when the paint wears thin on the tip of the nose piece.

If anyone would dispute it, I knew you would be there!

I have 112 090 11 01 air box on my car for at least 4 years now with NO rub marks.

Also he mentioned he liked the look, no mention of looking for any performance benefits.

I am not disputing anything, I looked into all this four years ago. I think you will agree that my numbers are correct. These are for the upgrade in performance, but you can go part way if you want. If my PDF is wrong I will erase it, let me know.

The part you note above is the one mentioned in my PDF, in your earlier post here you show a link to the 15 01, this is the wrong part. There is a big difference in the parts with just a little number change.

Maybe I'll erase my posts on all these subjects and the new members can start from scratch and gather info from earlier posts, the Internet and such. If all these posts were erased maybe it would refresh this forum.

We get a lot of crap from some of these new members, they get to use manuals, parts lists etc that the older members dug up and posted. All the hard slogging has been done for them.

Rant over ...... For now anyway.

I see no problems with the part numbers in the PDF, it all looks accurate based on my knowledge of the upgrade. This is an upgrade I've been considering since it is an improved throttle body and improved air intake (That way I won't get lazy and never upgrade the TB). Just wondering how much I can expect to pay for everything listed?

-Thanks

Here is the PNP airbox from an SLK that will fit your application:
